After reading the march fool thread i have an urge to pull an april fools joke.

I found this

How about this one for Macbooks - the Newton Virus is a Mac bug that rearranges the desktop icons using the accelerometers built into recent MacBooks. When the unsuspecting user picks up their laptop, all the icons and menu items fall to the ground as though under the influence of gravity.

there have been a few people mention this on the smoothwall express forums, but i don't think anyone has implemented it yet.

I've been meaning to test this out for the past 2/3 years but haven't got much further than installing debian/squid in a VM & forgetting about it

I remember reading about pranks a few months ago on an old thread and I've decided to copy an idea from mrbios here. I'll have a link offering access to youtube or facebook or something going to a hit counter :D

Very, very tempted to do this. Plus I think I may have a number of HP Printers suddenly run out of White Toner :D

Oh we have printers running out of white ink all the time here ha ha!

If your intranet can pickup the username of the user accessing it, and you follow a naming scheme with the full name in you could put a link to

"Naked pictures of $FIRSTNAME $SURNAME"

I know of someone who took a call about what turned out to be a key which was so clogged with grot that it couldn't be pressed; they explained that the keyboard had run out of that letter and took it away, then gave it back half-an-hour later having "refilled it". Genius!

I've just taken screenshots of youtube, setup a little website on it's own server, DNS address to youtube and facebook including the favicon :p

on thurday morning the kids will be greeted by youtube.com as there homepage and a working facebook.com, except what they wont realise is that it's hosted internally and you can't actually do anything, i've removed everything with the word tuesday in and edited the "youtube music tuesday" icon to "youtube april fools" :D w00t

See attached for my little site in it's entriety, just create a little site on it's own server, or on your desktop and make it the kids homepage :D

EDIT: minor adjustment, i messed up the index.html, corrected it now so that favicon works :p just change the ip address to whatever yours is

For anyone who is interested, the script we're going to be using to turn everything upside down (doesn't seem to be quite the same as that in the first post) is:

<br />
<br />
html body {<br />
  -webkit-transform: rotate(180deg); <br />
  -moz-transform: rotate(180deg);<br />
  filter: progid:DXImageTransform.Microsoft.BasicImage(rotation=2);<br />
}<br />
<br />

If you use CSS templates like we do, you only need the bit from body { to } and everything in between.

change "html body" to "*" so that effects all elments
