OWA on an iPhone

Hi,

 

Does anybody know of a good free app to use on an iPhone to enable me to get OWA mail in my inbox like I can do on my Blackberry?

 

We don't have IMAP or POP enabled just OWA, I have found one but it is £4.99, ill have to get that if there are no free versions out there.

I'm curious what the built in apps don't offer that you are looking for from OWA?

What version of Exchange are you running? (OWA displays perfectly from Exchange 2010 on many devices including the iPhone)

Yes, this is what we do with iPhones here. Set up an Exchange account on the iPhone using the OWA details / credentials. Works just fine.

I had problem with setting mine up but wasn't fussed about investigating too heavily. OWA works fine just the mail app getting it.

I've also set this up using exchange function in mail options for several Headteachers at primaries. Works like a dream Nothing needs to be done on the server. Have to make sure SSL is selected though.

It's difficult to get working on Exchange 2003 standard, you could get it working via some registry hacks. I believe enterprise was ok.

 

Exchange 2007 / 2010 should work with the iPhone's native mail app without any problems.

If you've got owa you can use the iphones built in exchange mailbox. just enter all those details in and enjoy!

 

I got my 2g (3.0) iphone a few months ago and just put in the owa access and it worked! I did no server side work at all.

 

Email - your email

 

server - your servers address i.e. "http://exchange.your.sch.uk/owa" then it's "exchange.your.sch.uk"

 

Domain - your FDQN so "yourdomain.local"

 

Username your domain login name

 

Password your domain login password

 

Description

 

Use SSL "on" (I use this even though I use a self signed cert it works fine you should be prompted to accept it)

This needs to have the server configured in some way or form, I am unaware of how (sorry for being totally unclear) the only reason I know this is cus our county email system has recently been 'upgraded' so we can access the exchange (using the owa address) on iPhones and WM devices. Before even using the same details it wasn't possible.

Depending on the Exchange setup and exchange version.

 

In pre-3.1 Apple lied about activesync device encryption, so if this isset as required by exchange then 3.0 will have troubles.

 

My android has other connection issues. It can require setting up a owa-virtual directory with no passwords (but the the exchange server the only thing that has access to it) on exchange 2003.

 

Exhange 2010 working fine with ipod touch and android (with a couple of changes to my mailbox).

Just found this walkthrough & it appears you need port 143 & possible 993 open. Followed the rest of it & that is the only bit I can't do so I think that must be the killer. Whether the IMAP port is open or not.
