ICT in Dance

Hi, We are looking as part of BSF for ways in which ICT can be used in the dance studio and for teaching and learning.

 

So far we've covered, cameras to record/delayed playback linking to dartfish etc

voice activated music + video librarys

Tablet PC wirelessly linked to projector to be used around the room.

 

If anyone has any ideas of what else could be included please advise.

There is software to help choreography, eg DanceForm.

Would that be of any use?

By complete chance, and it may not help much, I've just come across pydance - play Dance Dance Revolution in Linux, BSD, MacOS X, BeOS, and Windows

If you had DMX-controlled lights in your hall you could write a script to flash them in sequence to a piece of music, similar to Dance Dance Revolution.

Similar to DHicks, I would look slightly larger than just the dance and maybe into a full production which would incorporate Lights and Sound.

Does your curriculum cross over with sports studies at all? There's loads of "effect of exercise on human body" - type stuff.

As already mentioned, programmable DMX lighting, or any digital audio setup.

We have a set of dance mats, controlled by a PC & hooked up to a projector....
