Indeed, this side of the pond the browser wars are only just beginning.

First one to promote free beer or have hot women on the advert will win.

I can see Microsofts angle as: Hot women using the browser and finding all she needs using bing, searching for lingerie and the likes.

Or when you don't want your girlfriend to find you looking at things you shouldn't ;) I prefer chrome and Incognito.

the problem is that most people dont know that there is a choice, and if they are aware of the choice they cba changing from IE.

true but even if they did would they care for most people ir works well and to probably 70% of internet users it IS the internet and while i prefer firefox ive given up suggesting it to people as it can be like bashing your head against a brick wall

Sitting here watching the gadget show, goes to a break and a advert for IE I'm sure it not going the be the last advert I see for a browser....

We've got some billboards nearby with adverts for Chrome. Made me smile when I saw that.

i did suggest firefox to someone saying "install this it will be faster when you browse the net", a couple of weeks later he said that it hadnt made any difference, it turned out he had installed it and continued to use IE assuming that the speedyness would rub off.....
