Guest TheLibrarian Posted February 22, 2010 Posted February 22, 2010 /me is thinking of Gerby too /me wants to see the Gerby-cam but it doesn't work from here. :/
mattx Posted February 22, 2010 Author Posted February 22, 2010 have you thought of taking him to the vet, i hear they don't ask for proof of income. He's off to the vet tomorrow evening - would take him tonight but I have to take my kids to their swimming lessons !! Kids first, pets second, then alcohol third.....
Guest richard_s Posted February 22, 2010 Posted February 22, 2010 Anyway - sod the political angle on all this, will someone think about my sick Gerbil ? http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2784/4356539289_3fd27cfb29.jpg I am as I fancy Gerbil on toast for my tea
mattx Posted February 22, 2010 Author Posted February 22, 2010 Aww, how cute I hope its nothing serious. I have a feeling it's a Scent Gland Tumour which can be removed - but I hate to think how much it will be......
Little-Miss Posted February 22, 2010 Posted February 22, 2010 Fancy a giggle? Dexter Cam recordings Excuse the dodgy website...its just temporary.
NikChillin Posted February 22, 2010 Posted February 22, 2010 Anyway - sod the political angle on all this, will someone think about my sick Gerbil ? http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2784/4356539289_3fd27cfb29.jpg Looks exactly like our girbil.. which was put down in January. Wouldn't eat, drink, sleep and went all bony poor thing. Nearly 3 years old though!
mattx Posted February 22, 2010 Author Posted February 22, 2010 Fancy a giggle? Dexter Cam recordings Excuse the dodgy website...its just temporary. He loves that wheel !! - Glad you got it all up and running ok - is that the cheap Cam from Hong Kong ? If so - great quality from the infrared aspect. I'd hook up my mobile phone to a charger for that wheel - save you a few quid !!
Little-Miss Posted February 22, 2010 Posted February 22, 2010 Yep! Thanks for the help its worked out great. I would put it up live, but as you can see he doesnt get up till 1 or 2 anyway! So only good for people in america! I want to get an odometer next!!!
AyatollahPies Posted February 22, 2010 Posted February 22, 2010 He's off to the vet tomorrow evening - would take him tonight but I have to take my kids to their swimming lessons !! Kids first, pets second, then alcohol third..... Why not give the Gerbil some alcohol? That sorts out steps 2 and 3 together. I hear they like Holsten Gerbills.
Mr.Ben Posted February 22, 2010 Posted February 22, 2010 I once had a gerbil with a condition. The poor things manly bits swelled up so much that they dragged on the floor. I had to keep holding him down on ice to sort it. He was not happy. Lets hope for a quick recovery!
Guest Guest Posted February 23, 2010 Posted February 23, 2010 I just think they want to match what happened on the 16th September 1992.......£3.5 Billion gone within hours....and there was me thinking my missus could shop !! Ohh i think they've topped that one. £180 billion in borrowing this year alone. National debt at what is it now, £3trillion? If thats what labour manage during the good times i dont think we need them in power for the hard times ahead. Theres the article i was trying to find; £2.4 trillion spent by the UK on the recession. Just slightly beats the £3.5bn that the tories lost BBC NEWS | Business | Follow the money
somabc Posted February 23, 2010 Posted February 23, 2010 (edited) I think this chart sums it up! If we all pay £31,250 in extra tax next year we will be fine! http://i.imgur.com/pzpxy.png http://i.imgur.com/TvN5G.png Edited February 23, 2010 by somabc
Guest Guest Posted February 23, 2010 Posted February 23, 2010 I think this chart sums it up! If we all pay £31,250 in extra tax next year we will be fine! http://i.imgur.com/pzpxy.png http://i.imgur.com/TvN5G.png My point exactly Im not saying we didnt need to pay... if we hadnt we'd be even more screwed as somewhere around 80% of our GDP comes from the finance sector, where as countries like the US actually do have some manufacturing industries left.
mattx Posted February 23, 2010 Author Posted February 23, 2010 Stuff the politics...hows Gerby? Not very good I'm afraid - just got back from the vet in which he agreed with my prognosis - which is a scent gland tumour - I've just bought some Silver Nitrate - [ 30 quid !! ] to put on the surrounding area when it starts to bleed but as Gerbil's are their own worst enemy - [ scratching ] then it will be a minor miracle if it clears up. I'll give it a few weeks but even at the moment he is rather not with it. He's back in his cage now looking rather sorry for himself. Thanks for asking though - I was going to PM you but there is no need now !!
Little-Miss Posted February 23, 2010 Posted February 23, 2010 aww, i've just been watching him...poor little mite. Fingers crossed for him!! Unfortuantely things like this are difficult when they are so small. My OH's cat was put down today, he's devastated Funny how you grow so attached to these little creatures.
mattx Posted February 23, 2010 Author Posted February 23, 2010 It's quite sad watching him struggle up the ladder !! I know what will happen - as soon as he goes I will be out getting two more......can't live without having any pets to talk to !! It's just not British !!
mattx Posted February 25, 2010 Author Posted February 25, 2010 Gerby is still hanging in there - not as strong as last week but the last two days there has been a little improvement. I am not having to feed him by hand now although he does struggle up the ladder sometimes. Certainly not as active but boy, is he a fighter...... Amazing little creature.......
Little-Miss Posted February 26, 2010 Posted February 26, 2010 phew, was worried then!! Awww! Go Gerby!
