Accelerated Freefall for Breast Cancer Care

On Saturday 3rd of April 2010 I will be jumping out of a plane in an accelerated free fall from 10,000 feet in aid of Breast Cancer Care.

 

This is not your normal tandem skydive, I will not be strapped to anyone else and will be jumping solo. I have never done anything like this before but I am willing to do anything to raise money for a good cause like Breast Cancer Care. I would like to raise as much money as possible and all donations are welcome no matter how small or large.

 

Breast Cancer Care is here for anyone affected by breast cancer. They bring people together, provide information and support, and campaign for improved standards of care. They use their understanding of people's experience of breast cancer and our clinical expertise in everything they do. All of their services are free and it is your donations that makes this possible.

I'm happy to donate and it's a very good cause but I have a concern :

 

If you've never done it before, how are they letting you jump solo? I'm probably going to answer my own question here and say you've received a lot of training. I thought you had to do some tandem jumps first. Maybe I'm wrong

I will be having a full day of training before the jump, I don't have to do any tandems as two instructors will be jumping out alongside me just in case anything goes wrong, god forbid.

Hi Andy. Looks like we're practically neighbours - I'm about a mile down the road from you.

 

I think I can guess where you're jumping. Last time I was there was to support a young woman doing a charity jump - sadly she's now a breast cancer sufferer herself so I'm more than happy to give you a donation. Thanks for doing this; It's a great cause.
