He was amazingly nice. He was out of pocket with all the chasing ...I think I'd have wanted to recoup some all of that.. just to feel that I had some kind of justice. And the cheek of the guy asking for postage! And why wouldn't the police be interested??

I got about halfway down before I realised why he'd decided to call him 'Pinche' (of which I first presumed to be pronounced 'pinsh').

Sometimes I'm intelligent, witty and on-the-ball. Other times, I am not a smart man.

 

Excellent article, though. Makes me consider getting those kind of apps for my phone, but an old 1st generation Desire isn't really worth stealing And the memory is so crap I doubt I'd have space for any more apps - even with a custom OS and moving apps to the SD card! It still complains about having no storage left

Richard Kay, 30, catalogued what was happening with his phone for over 40 hours, taking photos of the initial suspect at his home and at the shopping centre, before finally realising it was in safe hands as he saw a picture of a police officer come through to his computer.

His mission became a hit online as more than a quarter of a million people followed his posts about his progress.

 

Mr Kay now has his Samsung Galaxy Note back after it was stolen in a burglary from his girlfriend’s Sheffield home on Tuesday.

 

He told The Daily Telegraph: “I had heard stories about similar things happening and I thought I would give it a go. It felt brilliant to get it back.”

 

He tracked the phone using the Cerberus anti-theft programme, which allows the user to take photographs, track calls and messages even if the Sim cards has been changed, and to trigger alarms remotely.
