Smartboard pen tray

Hi Chaps,

 

Anyone know what cable I need to connect the pen tray up to a SMART board (SB680).

 

I cant lift the the board off to check the connectors as it's been firmly fixed on - but the pen tray end appears to be an RJ11 plug

Yep they are RJ11 connectors on both ends from what I remember last time I took one to bits. I would guess they are straight wired, maybe just meter one out if you have another on before making confusion by lifting the red pen and it showing green

Last week, a supply teacher mentioned that one of the pens was missing from a Smartboard. I asked at briefing if anyone had seen it, only to find out there are three missing. So I had a word with the peri. drum teacher and he found me some broken drum sticks. With the aid of the D/T bench tools, I have made up half a dozen spares.

This method is really hi tech and have seen it used alot. lol

 

Teachers normally stick a ball of blue tac in each pen holder and just removed the blue tac to activate that particular pen. Seems to work well???

There are 2 connections on the pen tray - do they both need to be plugged in?

Just needs to be plugged into port number 1

 

The other port is used for when the smart board is used via a unifi system, so that an on/off button and volume control can be added to the pen tray.
