Just thought i would let you know that we have appeared on the BBC News Website, I/Edugeek are awaiting the direct URL the video that has EduGeek's Stand in it so when we know it we will post it up for you.

Why is there such a push to integrate toys and gadgetry into education? Getting people to text views on bullying is a gimmick, how does that method aid their education? What is wrong with traditional questionnaires? or if you want to be more modern, one of those classroom polling kits. Why must we involve technologies that are shown time and time again to bring disruption to lessons?

 

The entire spiel in that article seems to come from the view point that all children are responsible, well behaved and have a desire to learn - a view which is naive to say the least.

 

Yes, technology is important, but it isn't the only and best way to teach things.

Corporate bodies from private sectors see big profits in pushing latest technologies to schools even though they havn't been ratified fully.

 

Reasons are just greed and shifting of power and control.

I fully expect to see a "Mobile Technology in Schools" czar appointed at a salary in the high 6 figures very soon. S/he definitely won't be a friend of whoever makes the appointment, and in no way will have any ties to any firm that might provide the equipment/training/services, no siree.

 

Given what a lot of teenage lads will no doubt be doing in class, maybe s/he would be more accurately the "School Mobile Usage Technology" czar.

P.S. What about all those kids without net capable mobile devices? If it's safe to assume that all kids spring forth from the womb suitably equipped these days, why does the government need to hand out laptops?
