Is anyone able to let me know some very rough figures for Ruckus wireless kit? Everyone seems to rave about it so I thought it was worth investigating. I don't need any accurate quotes at this stage, as the project wont happen until the summer, but i need to submit a budget proposal by the end of the week.

At the moment I have priced up for Netgear kit, and have gone for:

3 x wireless controllers (1 redundant)

20 x light A / G access points

The total for this is just under £5500

Is ruckus kit to cover a primary school - 14 classrooms and 2 halls going to be vastly more than this?

Thanks

For 14 classrooms, you won't need 20 AP's. We've got about 35 classrooms and 2 halls here, and are going to be installing a total of 23 AP's across the entire site. (We're doing it a bit at a time). I'd be looking at about 10 AP's for your site using those numbers. So, about £8k or so for a rough guess (Using A/B/G/N AP's rather than the older non N system).

Best bet is to give CP a call and see what they say - they're usually quite quick at getting prices out for you.

Hi Guys,

I have just seen this thread, i have just grabbed aggy... she is at BETT at the moment so things are a bit busy she is going to see if she can work something out for you.

Hope that helps,

James.

P.S. With it being Ruckus and not Netgear, you may find you wont need as many AP's.... Anychance you might be able to send me over a quick plan of your site??? might be able to get a better quote over to you then as i have all the Net-Ctrl guys here.

Great, thanks for all the replies. So assuming I cut back on the number of access points a bit it should be similar pricing. I will be in contact with a few companies nearer the time to get an accurate quote - don't want to waste your time at the moment as I know I wont be placing an order for a few months yet.

Get a quote on a set number of AP's form 3 supplier try and get Ruckus, Cisco, Aruba and HP quotes.

Then work with one of these suppliers to survey the site and deploy the access points. You may what to do all the POE switch installs and AP mounting to save money. Then get them to configure it but make sure that it is the complete solution you are buying not a box of parts.
