Photoshop Licencing

We want to buy a few more licences for Photoshop Elements. Thing is, we have version 7 on our network and now it seems version 8 is out.

 

Can anybody tell me if we buy a few version 8 licences are we ok to install version 7 instead (are the licences backwards compatable?)?

 

We don't want to have some computers with 7 and some with 8, and we don't have the money to upgrade the exisiting version 7 to version 8.

What level school are you in and where is elements used?

 

I've been told we need to have photoshop cs4 because elements is no good for our level, secondary school by the art teacher.

We're secondary school. Art use Photoshop Elements to organise/touch-up photos - not for creating pieces of artwork. For CS style stuff they use Paint.Net.

I would hazard a guess and it won't be backwards compatible but I would speak to the company you use to get your licences as they will have more idea / will be able to find out.

 

I must admit we are a secondary school and use Photoshop Elements in some of our lessons, and the staff are more than happy with what it offers them.

 

I am looking into purchasing a site licence for Adobe Web Premium to upgrade our dreamweaver, flash, photoshop etc - which I think will be a lot better for students all round from the Macromedia MX 2004 they are currently using.
