Cheap Swivel Chairs?

We are adding in extra desktops to our library and having the desks extend to accomodate them. The question is the swivel chairs we currently have in there from British Thornton i found out are a staggering £65 each!! They are simple plastic chairs with wheels on the bottom, although if you want to sacrifice the small bit of padding on the seat it takes it down to a still expensive £50.

 

Can anyone reccomend a more price competitive suppliers from when they put new furniture in their school as im hoping to get something just as good for a bit less than £65?

I don't know how much we spent on each of our swivel chairs, but they are now falling to bits - all the bolts keep coming out of the back and the back supports no longer support your back. Getting the cheapest available seats might not be the best idea.

Many years ago purchased cheap (£25) chairs and of course they didn't last long.

 

For the past 5 years or so been using the Tract T260 medium back operator chairs (but moved onto the T160 model, as prices went up and not much difference). Installed with high performance fabric (designed for call centres etc) with 5 year warranty and pay around £50 each.

I'd avoid swivel chairs for students altogether, and if you must have them they should be single-piece chairs fixed to a swivelly base only. If they are adjustable in anything more than height, they have a tendency to be destroyed in months (or weeks).

 

Ours don't have foam or coverings, so they can't be picked at, but the gas does absorb bounce well so they are actually quite comfortable.

Avoid wheels too, go for sliders. The chairs are much more likely to stay where they should be.
