Once again i'm missing BETT this year, after 5 years of asking the school have decided it might be worth going. Only problem is my partner is getting close to her expected date and dont want to risk being 4+ hours away if it comes early.

Maybe next year

I've requested a demo of Openhive, to stay in the loop as it were.

Even though our whole borough is committed to the London MLE (Fronter), which I find one of the most clunky, unintuitive pieces of software I've ever come across.

I'm hoping there'll be nicer integration with SIMS, especially following Capita's acquisition of Synetrix.

you never quite know if a company doesn't want you to talk about something until a particular date.

One company I visited (we're already a customer of theirs, and I went to get a demo of the new version) refused to tell me some of the features, as they say that they're the only product of that type with those features, and they don't want their competitors finding out what they're doing! I'm all for secrecy of new releases, but surely once the product is out and an existing customer is asking, it is okay to talk about it. Madness. For that, and a few other reasons, I'm inclined to recommend we move to their competitors rather than upgrade!

I think you will find it was Capita Outsourcing not the Capita Childrens Service that is in the process of buying Synetrix.

I know they are the same company but you may not see any close working. I would assume that Capita are more interested in the networks and LA contracts as opposed to product.

Capita IT services to be precise - All part of the Capita Group.

Supposse we will just have to wait and see how it pans out.
