O2 cannot be that bad after all

I stupidly took out a new 18 month phone contract back in July and got a free Blackberry Curve 8900. Why i took it out i do not know. My daughter was born probably 3 days later . . . .

 

So with Mrs Jamin going back to work in January I'm going to have to find nearly £160 PER WEEK to pay for a childminder.

 

Now here's where o2 come in. I phone them up on the off chance to try and get my contract payments reduced (currently at £45) to the lowest possible tarif. Tell them what i would like to do and they say no problem the best deal we can offer you now is the same minutes and texts (600 mins & 1200 texts) and the unlimited Blackberry bolt on for £20 per month. And the best part is . . . . Its on their simplicity tarif so the contract is only 30 days!

 

So i'm now out of their 18 month contract and getting the same deal for £25 a month cheaper!

 

I suppose in a way they are robbing for charging me that much in the first place...

I've always found O2 to be quite helpful whenever i've spoken to them.

I have heard of people who have had a nightmare but whenever i ring them they do their best to help me. I've been with them about 7 years now (on simplicity now) and have no plans to change provider in the future.

Yes, i've been with them for about 5 years now i think. I'm really please with the deal i have now. I never use all those minutes & texts but thats the cheapest option with the blackberry unlimited bolt on.

 

I could get rid of the blackberry and get a cheap candybar headset i suppose.

I'm with O2 through Carphone Warehouse on a Sim only deal. I'm tied in for 24 months but I get 1000 texts and 400 mins for just £10 a month so being tied in for 24 months isnt actually that bad!

im on a simplicity with 02, its brialliant for what you get, didnt realy fancy a minimum of 18 months so i just buy the phones outright anyway...

Hmmm My O2 deal suddenly seams (seems? Brain not working right today) rather bad value.

 

£35 - 500 mins, 600 texts, unlimited net use

 

Wonder if they'll let me swap to simplicity or whether i'll have to ride out my current contract first...

Once you have done half your contract O2 will allow you to downgrade your tariff..

 

Also over child care check out family tax credits as even if in high wage bracket they will often pay for childcare costs (we get that money for child care but nothing else)..

im on the simplicity plan now, inbetween my new job and my old one there was no money to pay the £20 so i wasn't able to pay. once i got paid(a week after being cut off) i went to pay them, but their payment system was down. the nice lady on the other end said as you tried to pay we will get rid of your bill and reconnect you free of charge.

Im on o2 pay n go. Unlimited internets and texts as long as i top up each month by £15 (i still keep the £15 for calls), plus 10% cachback every 3 months, plus a "suprise" each time i top up. Ive just moved from the unlimited calls and text to o2 for the same price, which was working out at around £7.50 a month.

 

Wouldnt dream of tieing myself into a £70 over 18 months contract just so i can get a £400 phone which will be out of date (and more than likely freezing all the time) well before the contracts out.

yes we will but to be honest with the wages she's on there wont be much left after childcare costs have been paid for. She's a TA.
