Yes there is a lot of people that have said that they want RATM to be number 1 but how many will buy it?

Would be good to see the Muppets at number 1..

True, RATM number 2 in the I-tunes download chart thou, muppets are number 45 so I brought both :D

I did. Hell, the download is only 29p on Amazon and it counts towards the chart placement.

 

Apparantly downloads bought for less than 40p don't count. Just what I heard on the grapevine.

It's not that people want RATM at number one ... they just don't want an X Factor artist ... but remember that this is playing with the life and career of Joe (I preferred Olly actually ... and still prefer Jamie over all). If people were smart about it then the campaign should not be about stopping the single from being number one by outselling it as it will still sell as many singles, but stopping it from staying there.

 

Xmas number one is nothing important other than a branding ...

 

And so many different songs have been raised as 'the song to stop the X-Factor number one' that it is almost a waste of time.

 

Get behind the Togmeister I say ... Silver Bells for number one (and do a bit of good for charity too!)

Why is it that people don't want the X Factor single to be number 1? How will it affect their day to day work?

 

In some way, they'll still be lining the pockets of Simon, Syco, Sony and whatever other pies he has his fingers in so I wish people would just get over it and stop with all the Tweets, posts, emails, Facebook entries etc about RATM.

 

For the record X Factor single is in at No1 in the iTunes chart this morning.

Oh boo-hoo. Sorry but why has he got a divine right to a number 1 with a shoddy hastily written single, presumably with the usual cheesy video? If the music that came out of that show wasnt so turgid and bland people wouldnt get so annoyed about it.

It doesnt matter who it is, even to Simon Cowell, its just a cash cow every single bloody year, with the show timed perfectly to finish in time for a Christmas #1 because morons buy whatever comes out of it

 

Im not going to buy the RATM single, Im not that bothered, but it is good to see there are some people left who arnt sucked into the constant (it literally is year round now) talent show hype

I think it's that little bit inside us all that gets fed up with the same old predictable c**p every year, and it's a brillient example of the 'power' of social networking sites - I don't think anyone really cares where the profits from the sales go.

 

There is also a just giving page linked to the facebook group setup to donate to the shelter charity which has raised £27,000 so far, so some good can come out of it whether or not they make it to number 1. Tracy Morter is fundraising for Shelter - JustGiving

What it comes down to is id rather not have some guy singing a bad cover of a song being number 1 at christmas and getting the extra publicity from that, just because he won some annoying tv talent show

Look at it like this. As GrumbleDook pointed out this is his career now, he's been given a chance that he may not have otherwise had. From what I have seen and read in the papers he seems a pretty ordinary young person. Why shouldn't he have the chance to be successful? Just because X Factor was his platform, and probably the only platform he would have got into the music industry, it doesn't really affect his voice or talent. If he didn't win through X Factor would people still be doing all this silly campaigning? I doubt it. I think the real gripe here is with Simon and not Joe, Olly, or whoever else could have won for that matter.

We all know Simon is rolling it in, nothing is going to change that. Good luck to him I say. I'd do the same if I could.

 

With regards to his only chance, not at all. I imagine he probably could have done it himself if he really wanted to but 200,000 other people also tried to do it this way, so why not? There's just over a week until Christmas. Not enough time to write an song, let alone album that's going to blow everyone off their feet for Christmas. Thus they just rerecord a song. I imagine that's why.

He'll just end up in the same place as David Sneddon, Steve Bookstein, Shayne Ward, Leon Jackson and all the others.

 

I hope that he doesn't succeed, then it will send a message to plastic pop manufacturers that we're sick of the whole farce.

 

If any of them were any good, then they'd use the show as nothing more than a launch point, and not blub when they didn't get anywhere as soon as they're out of the limelight.

I think I must be going to the wrong karaoke's. Where do you go? I'm interested in coming.

 

Even the most successfull artists sometimes don't write the songs themselves.

Hope he doesn't succeed? I'm not going there. Why would you not want somebody you don't know to succeed? It's like me saying I hope you don't succeed in your job. I just wouldn't do it.

I couldn't really care less if people pay sony for ratm or pay sony for the xfactor pop-by-numbers winner.

 

It's all noise at 7am on the way to work! :D The guy who started the ratm thing was on the radio the other day and he sounded pretty normal, genuinely suprised at the response. I was expecting some idiot student trying to stick it to the man!
