The Windows 7 USB/DVD Download tool allows you to create a copy of your Windows 7 ISO file on a USB flash drive or a DVD. To create a bootable DVD or USB flash drive, download the ISO file and then run the Windows 7 USB/DVD Download tool. Once this is done, you can install Windows 7 directly from the USB flash drive or DVD.

 

The ISO file contains all the Windows 7 installation files combined into a single uncompressed file. When you download the ISO file, you need to copy it to some medium in order to install Windows 7. This tool allows you to create a copy of the ISO file to a USB flash drive or a DVD. To install Windows 7 from your USB flash drive or DVD, all you need to do is insert the USB flash drive into your USB port or insert your DVD into your DVD drive and run Setup.exe from the root folder on the drive.

Anyone Used this?? Looks really good, because we remove the ribbon cable from the DVD drives to stop the kids breaking them. Would save me a lot of time, allthough ill probs just create one then image it to the rest

I have used it, it works well but should you not be installing over the network instead?

This tool is great and so easy to use. I have ordered a "Net top" for home use and they don't have an optical drive so this has been a god send. Thanks for the link as I'm sure it will be useful to others

do you have to create new image per machine/license or can you create one image and it just asks you for the license when reinstalling?

the USB doesnt use an image, it uses a windows 7 iso so it will only do a fresh install of 7 then on first boot up it will ask to be configured like date/time, language, serial etc....

 

if you imaged it the serial would be copied across unless syspreped it not to
