enjay Posted December 8, 2009 Posted December 8, 2009 I need to copy a short clip from a DVD (educational purposes, not for resale, etc, etc). I had hoped to do this with Adobe Premiere but it can't copy from either of the DVDs. Can anyone suggest an alternative way of doing this?
mchowdhury Posted December 8, 2009 Posted December 8, 2009 Have you tried AOA DVD ripper? The manager here found the piece of software and I think it comes with a trial key. It loads the DVD disk and you can select which chapters you want to rip, and convert them to AVI, WMV etc etc. Hope this helps. 1

SpuffMonkey Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 I see no one has mentioned avidemux - its free and I find it does a really nice job - you have to rip using DVDShrink or similar - but it keeps the sync really nicely.

pmp4 Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 you can use VLC player to record just the part of a film you want. I was also reading Web user nagazine. It was either the last issue or the one before it. There was a free piece of software that lets you just capture a smal part of a DVD.

Although, I think I read somewhere that you're not allowed to film school productions of things like Grease etc.

We did something recently which came with very clear instructions that we were not to film or photograph the performance, even with the threat that they would come and check up on us! Other productions are less particular, I think. If it was classical music, however, or a music or drama performance of the students' own making, it would be fine though.

Then drag the record button from the left window to the right with the play button. when you go back to the mai window you shouls ee the record button appear. play the dvd and then just press record when you get to the bit you want to record. 1

Ok, so where does it save the stuff that you've recorded? I can't seem to find where to tell it to save.
