Sound issues on 1 pc on new network

Strange on I came across today that has me stumped! We have a new domain. One teacher workstation running to a interactive whiteboard works fine on the old domain but moving it onto the new domain it has sound in Admin use but when the teacher logs on he doesn't have sound - tried all I can think of, noticed that when I pull the usb IWB connector out and replug it does click through the speakers but nothing happens after that - anything obvious I might be missing?

Sounds like a profiles issue. I'd imagine the sound cards software stores some proprietory data in there.

 

Are your teachers using mandatory profiles?

It could be profile related. So I presume the two domains are separate with no trust? i.e they don't talk to each other, but may be operating in the same subnet.

 

If you logon locally (as the local administrator) does sound work? And if you logon as the domain administrator (connected to the new domain) does sound work then?

That's a yes all round. OK as local admin, ok as network admin. Just the one teacher who has the problem - I think all the others (on different IWB) have sound as far as I have found so far.

Have you tried deleting the teacher's cached profile?

It does look more like a profile issue since you've tried what I suggested, but to be honest I'm still scratching my head as to why changing the domain would create this problem. It makes no sense.

just another thought - not sure if this applies to the IWB's you have but I know promethians had some filter thing for the sound as there was a loop back on the ac mains that interfered with the audio side so they required the filter but that was only when the laptop was using mains power not on the battery so if its a laptop maybe try it without the mains power connected , if a desktop then maybe try it with a laptop with no mains power
