chrbb Posted November 26, 2009 Posted November 26, 2009 Where are on earth is the serial number? Just recieved a letter inviting me to upgrade our smartboard warranty to 3 years onsite, but can't find a serial number for the life of me:mad: (even had a mirror up the back of it) Slighty concerned as well I don't seem to have registered the board in time, one of those jobs you put to one side then when you have time t's too late:( If you have a return to base warranty only where is 'base', is it the local company that fitted it, project managed by our LEA or a single solitary smartboard mender that's bound to be miles away?

Gerry Posted November 26, 2009 Posted November 26, 2009 I would've thought underneath the pen tray or on the back. There should be a sticker with model number and serial number. If the sticker is missing try the diagnostic tool. If I remember correctly, you open the smartboard control panel and then go to About/Tools (or something similar).
Cummins Posted November 27, 2009 Posted November 27, 2009 If you can't find the serial number you will need to contact the supplier as they will be able to trace the number back (though they will groan alot about it). And base for SMART is in Canada if i'm not mistaken. Lets hope it doesn't break
Michael Posted November 27, 2009 Posted November 27, 2009 Usually taking the tray off the serial is located on the underside of the board. Not sure at the top of my head if it's also on the back too, if you're feeling strong?
witch Posted November 27, 2009 Posted November 27, 2009 Some of ours were on the back but right on the bottom edge so hard to see whether you had the board on or off the wall. Others were definitely on the back
gshaw Posted November 27, 2009 Posted November 27, 2009 Good luck if it's out of warranty as the shipping costs are indeed back to Canada... in the end it was easier for us to replace the boards when they broke than have SMART inspect them Serial number is usually on a thin strip down right hand side of the board or as said under the pen tray. It's not the most resistant sticker in the world so could well have come off
Gerry Posted November 27, 2009 Posted November 27, 2009 Steljes I believe these guys are the UK distributors for Smart and provide support too.
beagle Posted November 27, 2009 Posted November 27, 2009 We had the serial numbers on stickers within the paperwork that arrived with the Smartboard
witch Posted November 27, 2009 Posted November 27, 2009 Ours went back to Steljes as they are the UK supplier
chrbb Posted November 27, 2009 Author Posted November 27, 2009 (edited) Ours went back to Steljes as they are the UK supplier The smartboards? I'm going to chase the company (again) that installed them, the boards are sb660s so the serial number shouldn't be under the pen tray, I'm not going to dismantle anything or unscrew the fixing to get to a number on the back, then if I'm too late for the boards to be registered for the an extra warranty I'm going to get them to sort it out with Steljes!
