Morning All,

We have just got a batch of 32 Toshiba L450's in. I have been building the image for them before they can be deployed.

I have a problem with the wireless on this machine and wondered if anyone has come across it as its driving me insane.

So here's what we have...

The Machine -

Toshiba L450

Windows XP Pro SP3

Realtek RTL8191SE Wireless Card

Wireless -

Ruckus Managed Wireless

WPA2 Encryption

Radius Authentication

PEAP Authentication

The Problem -

Wireless will connect intermittently, but 9 times out of 10 will not connect. If it does and the machine is rebooted it will loose connectivity. Drivers have been updated to the latest version and still no luck.

Can anyone help?

do you have any toshiba branded wireless software installed as part of the image?

we had a problem with HP laptops and HPs wireless software which was stopping laptops from connecting properly to wireless connections; removed the software and just used the windows wireless utility and it worked.

We have four at work. The wireless has been hit and miss. One has just lost the wireless function completely. It doesn't even exist as a 'Fn' option. Bizarre.

We've had problems with these cards in the Toshiba Laptop's under XP. We tried practically everything we could thing of (different drivers, settings, fresh build, reseating the card, etc...). However in the end, in order to get it working with XP and WPA/WPA2, we had to change the wireless cards in all 15 of them to Intels.

I believe that with Windows 7, it actually works.

Now this is interesting to see, As we are currently been going through support with HP for the last 3 weeks and now we are waiting on them to send a different manufacture wireless card. Because these machines are HP 610 with the same wireless card as those toshiba (Realtek RTL8191SE) Really struggle with are wireless system with constant issues and haven't been fit for purpose since they arrived!

Ye, I'm still waiting for them to confirm that they are doing this but i was advised on the phone this is what should happen next. With the hp laptop, We tried putting in a different wireless card and it looks like the machine is locked to certain wireless cards as it would complain about an unsupported wireless card on bootup!

We have the same issue with the Compaq Presario CQ62. RTL 8191SE - wifi

Safe Mode with networking seems to be more stable but still wouldnt be useable.

all drivers tried with XP with no joy.

Have rang HP twice got the phone put down on me twice

What to do next?

I've changed my SSID to TKIP encryption and it works fine, seems they struggle with AES (which is rubbish as I need AES!). Still, at least it works until tosh get back to me...

I've since changed the wireless mode on the laptops to B/G only, and they now work flawlessly with the AES encryption. still waiting on toshiba to get back to me, but at least everything works for now!
