Class demonstration software

Hi,

 

One of the primary school's i look after doesn't have room for a whiteboard in the ict suite, but are after a way to demonstrate the lesson to the pupils. I've seen a few pieces of software over the years that can push the display from a teachers PC out to the pupil PC's. Does anyone have any recommendations, don't really need any other functionality apart from that and want to spend as little money as possible on it.

We use iTalc. It's open source and actually very good, quick and pretty easy to set up.

We have LanSchool here, which is very reasonably priced and does what you want and more - you just pay for as many teachers console licenses as you need, and you can have as many student clients as you want.

Another vote for ABTutor.

The client software is free and just pay for the workstations that you want the teacher to be able to broadcast from.

AB Tutor here aswell. Very good, and relatively cheap.

+1 for AB Tutor - been running the evaluation version and have just put the order in to finance to buy it today. It's great on so many levels (not least unnerving the kids cos they don't know when they're being watched:D

We use Netsupport (also known as Classlink/ranger/ and I think RM use it as well), to do this. Not the cheapest (in fact I would go as far as to say it's actually expensive, but it does offer the functionality you require and is very good at doing so, plus a whole host of other features.
