I am trying to access the following file on a laptop with Windows 7:

C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc -Hosts

I need to add our Internet IP so that the PC can access the internet without having to install programs that the school PC's need to access it.

When I do this with XP machines I can do it fine but on the W7 machine it tells me that I don't have administrative access to it and therefore can't save my changes back.

This is being logged on with full administrator rights.

Has anyone got a solution to this please?

Same with Vista...

Most of the Sys32 files etc don't have the relevant security permissions for you as an individual to play with files in those folders. Installers use the Trusted Installer permission group to get around it etc.

Edit the security settings to include yourself and away you go.
