Had a good chat with a friend at SSAT about this the other day. Let's face it ... so many here have fantastic ideas about how they can make a difference with how technology is used in schools, either developing tools, working on community projects such as Moodle, taking existing kit and using it in new and effective ways ... and there are times when they can have a massive impact on curriculum development.

 

Take those who have decided to concentrate on VLEs and online learning ... this is a good example how you can make a big difference at the right school.

 

To me, innovation is a mindset that most of us have because we have spent years following the old army motto of ''improvise, adapt, overcome" ... learning how to apply that to curriculum development should be something folks should be given a chance at.

 

I'll definitely be recommending it to a number of folk in Northants.

I certainly agree with what your saying. I'm interested in going, it just depends on travel arrangements, its a fair trek to Derbyshire or London from Durham especially if its a 9:00AM start.

So is this directly aimed at IT Support staff as in IT Managers, IT Technicians or Teaching staff who are supporting IT lessons

IT Support as in the folk doing the installing, configuring, planning and support, but that doesn't exclude those folk who do that *and* also support in the classroom ... but it is not aimed at teachers.

Trying to see about getting some folk to the Derbyshire one, hopefully that'll include me but I would struggle to qualify now :-(

Pretty much ... except my take on it is that those going need to have a positive attitude about being challenged about changing what they do to make it better for the curriculum ... and then get them to the point of instead of having to change things after the fact, they are part of teh development in the first place!

 

SSAT and ICT Register have been very supportive of EG in the past so it is good to see this take off.
