Issue Opening Publisher 2007 files via Sharepoint

We have several Publisher 2007 documents saved onto our Sharepoint install WSS 3.0. Word, Excel, PPT all seem to open fine directly.

 

When a user tries to open a publisher document directly from sharepoint they receive the following error message:

 

"Publisher cannot find the file you specified. The next dialog box will let you know browse to locate the file on your hard disk".

 

If the publisher files are saved locally they open up fine so they are not corrupt.

 

We use IE7 if this helps.

Are you viewing it in Read-Only mode? or are you planning on editing the document? maybe try checking the file out first? i know that dont fix your problem just curious about something...

 

They should just work the same way as .docx etc

Yes, this is Read Only mode. Opening the document to edit I think works as expected.
