Users prompted for Admin password when USB drive inserted....

I'm still having no luck with this. I've done a bit of searching on here and found apost where someone stated that a piece of music software could be causing it.

 

The Music software we have in the image is as follows:

 

Cubase V4 (plus elicensor software)

Cubasis

Dance ejay

 

Has anyone experienced any USB issues caused by any of this software?

 

Yes we have this problem with cubase and we have had to put a Usb lead in the port and then run it inside and secure the dongle inside. The driver which the usb dongle uses is not signed so you have to log on as admin evertime its plugged into a different port. I have asked them for a signed driver and they say its too expensive.

 

We have a copy of dance dj and as far as I know its a server version and the clients authenticate against the server and we have not problema dn dont use dongles on client machines.

We run exactly those. and have no problems in our music room. p.s. windows 7 machines. (if that makes a difference)

I have had one last idea but its dangerous you could set driver signing to accept unsigned driver.

 

Have a look in Computer Configuration | Windows Settings | Security Settings | Local Policies | Security Options in gpo and set the driver signing to ignore and install any.

 

If you are going to apply this test it out on only the pcs that you have to use it on and only apply it to those machines.

Just wondering what the exact policy is called. As i can’t find it in Security Options.

 

I am running 2008 R2 and cannot find this policy.

Right I think i've solved it.

 

It appears to be caused by the "Novation" midi device software. I've removed it and mysteriously regular USB support has returned...

 

I'm going have to play around with this a bit more before i'm completely happy with it though lol
