Is anyone using Richmond Help Desk? I am assessing our options for introducing a Help Desk next year and wondered if anyone had experience of this one and if so what they thought about it.

Cheers.

I'm sure I looked at pricing for this before and it was really expensive considoring the alternatives available.

Have you looked at MyLittleHelpdesk? Is there anything about Richmond that you think particularly would be useful, that isn't included in other products?

We use Richmond Helpdesk for every IT related request we get from schools at the LA, my personal opinion is that it is awesome.

I'm not really involved extensively in its setup but it has an SQL Server backend (this rarely needs updating - perhaps once a year) with a client application as well as Web Interface. Richmond gives you so many different ways to access and navigate your calls it makes working on the helpdesk a lot easier.

The Web Interface isn't so polished as the client app in my view but it will probably evolve into something much better given the way IT is moving, overall I think Richmond is fantastic.

I can't comment on the cost as I don't deal with that either but overall the product is really good and well supported.

There are clever alarms, buletin board and integrated remote support / email launcher modules.

The reports you can get out of it are also top notch.

I don't use it any more but there used to be a mobile version which ran on PDA's via GPRS (this is going back some years mind) and that worked reasonably well, I can only imagine that it has improved with 3G and so on.

Get a trial of it if you can.

We've been using it since January.

I cannot recommend it highly enough!

I agree with everything superfletch has said.

You might want to run a trial first to try it out and they all give a web conference demo to the product.

The installation is very easy and I had it installed and running in a short amount of time.

The support is excellent and we haven't had any problems at all.

We are planning to roll it out to the premises team so staff can log calls for the caretakers.

I was looking through posts earlier and several mentioned MLH as a product. It is now a chargable product even to schools.

£150

£200 if you want them to host it.

I'm sure everyone knows this already :-)

I have got a demo of this software in the next few weeks as we are looking to change ours which we currently use, although LanDesk is looking to be the one.
