iSteve Posted October 16, 2009 Posted October 16, 2009 I have a couple of hp t5135 clients which were purchased a year ago to use up some money, and to test out thin client boxes. From what I understand, there was some sort of management software for these (Altaris?) but the company has been taken over, and I can't track this down. As I say, I only have two so this isn't a big problem but would be nice to have. I've set one up to run a full screen ICA connection to our Citrix XenApp farm, but even though this is set to full screen, it still shows the HP client's tool bar along the bottom of the screen! Is there a way to make my Citrix session take precedence over this? My aim is to whack these in to a couple of staff offices to see how they react to them, but I need them to look as close to a "real computer" as possible - something that having Windows with a HP toolbar over the top ruins! Thanks.

Do NOT upgrade the firmware to the newer versions with the 'Invent' splash screen (rather than the dandylion) as these versions seem to love falling over! If set to full screen mode and you don't have seamless window mode enabled, you should not see any of the terminal's GUI when your ICA connection is alive.

While running the older version, I found they would go into a semi-permanent sleep (ie on but no response) and need to be power cycled. When you say it doesn't work, can you not get anything to work (ie wol/shutdown), or is it the configuration that doesn't work?

Basically, the time setting and power functions work but that's it... configuration is a no no. HPDM looked like the answer but it simply doesn't work. The whole bizzarre FTP setup might work but the documentation is rubbish and, by the time you set it all up, it's easier just to manually image the terminals. The newer firmware (the ones with the HP Invent splash screen rather than the dandilion) seems to be flaky as hell and the terminals lock up, go slow or randomly disconnect.

I've picked up an Axel client to evaluate and it looks like we're going to keep it. We have 40 Axel units and have been VERY impressed with them. They're soooo easy to configure and you can boot to a Citrix connection in <10 seconds. 1

The newer releases of the Thinconnect and HP Debian Linux firmwares are supposed to have the client installed already. I've upgraded my units and it just doesn't work.
