Recycling 'Compatible' Print toner Cartridges

Recommended Posts

Heres a good problem, we recycle our used toner through Recycool.org and recently we have noticed that they have stopped paying out money to the schools account. shortly after this we recieved a letter asking, no sorry telling us to stop sending them 'Compatable Toners' otherwise they will start charging us for them to dispose of them. does anyone know of a good company that does this sort of thing at little or no cost ?

I've never had any issues with Recycool in the past with genuine cartridges. I am just now looking into purchasing compatibles so thanks for the heads up that Recycool wont accept them.

All recyclers I've seen only want original genuine cartridges.

Maybe the suppliers of the non-genuine will take them back as the manfacturers may re-use them.

I'm also looking into this. The school has said, the saving on the toners, isnt a saving if we then have to pay for them to be dispossed of.

This could mean the end for us of using re-manufactured toners.

You can use our printer cartridge recycling scheme

It's free,

they take compatables,

and if you recycle original cartridges as well a donation is made to Bullying UK

To request a collection (or a box to collect cartridges in) Call 08452 691 704

N.b. They won't take any Epson inks and certain Canon inks as they can't be recycled due to a chip inside the cartridge.

Hope this helps

I think if you do the maths even if you have to pay a small disposal fee, you would still save money by buying compatibles as they are so much cheaper. The place we buy them from they can be up to 70% less.

I know that, you know that.... but they just see a sudden lumpsum for disposal and say "The HP ones I send away are free, why are we paying".

It does now seem though, I have another solution thanks to OfficeExpress

I use www.help4freeonline.co.uk , i think all the local high schools use them, they take everything except for Epson and MFP (the ones that come with tube toners) cartrages, compatible or genuine, there phone number is a bit odd but works, the school gets no money for them, but any profit they make, minus a small admin fee goes to the wales air ambulance, they are linked to other charaties in other areas.

I have a box from Epson to recycle there cartrages.

Yes they'll collect Samsung free of charge.

When you request a collection ask for a couple of collection boxes too. That way you can put them next to printers around the school and folk can fill them up themselves

Recycling Scheme, Environment | OfficeXpress – The Computer and Office Supplies Specialists . I think the person I spoke to was called Daniel.

have now got OfficeXpress collecting my compatible toners :) Confusion on the other end of the phone line never helps! lol If you phone just make it very clear that you wish to speak to OfficeXpress.
