Webcam FTP Server

Is there a product not a pc that works as a webcam ftp server, small box with composite connection for video that will upload a jpeg to the school website every **seconds.

 

I will use a old computer but with a card but if ther is a out the box solution even better.

Never heard of anything that takes a camera feed and simply hosts it on FTP or web. IP cameras like this can upload to an ftp server though (along with usual view over http) - Any reason you need to use an existing camera feed?

 

 

Update: I did find something that can handle what you want, but it's more of a security product designed to be used with more feeds and costs quite a bit (£500+) - I'd suggest a simple IP camera personally!

Thanks for looking, The reason is i have a birdbox with a build in camera and have a few old cctv cameras after replacing the system over the summer.

I think a small PC with a vid cap card will be your best bet.

We use an old pc with a capture card in it and running zoneminder for our birdbox camera. We also use this on another box to run our underwater pond camera, and night cameras in the nature area.

 

For what you want to do with the one camera, it looks like this might be what you are after ACTi ACD-2100 One-channel video server ¦ use-IP Ltd

 

I've never used it before, am only going by what i've read on the descrition!

That's what we had to do for the same project. Decent Dell tower as the server with a capture card taking the birdbox feed, then Dorgem running on Windows to capture the files and upload them. It also kept a couple of days archive so we could grab decent pictures.

Axis do some encoder boxes (Video encoders, video servers | Axis Communications) that just take a composite video (and audio if you want it) feed. All the normal Axis features (streams, ftp uploads, etc). I've got a couple of the four channel encoders and they work very nicely. Not the cheapest solution on the market, but I've always been very happy with their kit. If the prices are a bit steep then an old PC with cheap capture card is probably your best bet.

Why dont you just get a webcam, it dont have to be anything expensive. Then use this software to do what you want aswell as a few other things

Been using Yawcam for a while now great bit of software, but its on a pc that old and need replacing, im going to put another old pc running yawcam onto the birdbox but thought i would ask if there was a out of the box solution.
