Intel Pro/100 VE & RIS - BSOD

Getting the following error when trying to start RIS with Intel Pro/100 VE on-board LANs

 

An initialization failure occured while attempting to boot from network.
0x000000BB(0x00000003, 0xc00000BD, 0x00000000, 0x00000000)

 

I have put the intel drivers into %BASE_RIS_IMAGE_DIR%\$oem$\$1\drivers\nic as well as the i386 folder,editted the appropriate SIF file to pick up the drivers - but still get the above BSOD

 

Anyone know how to get round this?

Did you restart binlsvc? You usually have to restart that then run it once for it to rebuild (sometimes works first time) then it will work the next time.

yep restarted it several times - no joy

deleted all the .PNF files relating to the NIC too..

 

Only have 10 of these PCs so may just use traditional CD Install if i cant get it working

I had a few issues with these. Have you got the latest drivers from Intel? Some manufacturers editted the drivers for some reason (Dell for one!).

Yeah using latest drivers from Intel - along with the INF file they have that is allegedly for RIS installs

Same error - gets as far as "Setup is starting Windows" - hangs - BSOD as mentioned above

I have had a similar issue with some brand new out of the box PC's (HP's) but if i let them start the HP OEM mini setup and then rebooted all was OK.

 

it was like the HDD was missing but once something had accessed it the problems went away.

Looks like this is a problem with Intel PRO 100 VE cards (what is it with me and incompatible NIC's?!)

 

Just had 10 PRO 1000 GT's delivered and they work a treat (once u add the OEM drivers to RIS...

Gatt I have been having problems with RIS and Intel VE onboard NICS for about 4 months now.

 

I solved it totaly this weekend using AutoImage that can be downloaded from here

 

There is quite a process to get to the end product but it is well worth it as you will end up with a universal image that should work on most if not all your school machines and laptops. the web site is very informative and RogueSpear the guy who wrote the program is very helpful. give it a go you wont be dissappointed

Might have a look at it tomorrow - but for the sake of 10 PCs - its prob easier to use a normal CD install

I have used roguespears previous script Autoris and will have a go at his new AutoImage soon. Combine these with Bashrat the Sneakys Driver Packs and Ryan VMs windows update integrator and it is great for your flat ris builds.

Have you tried the Boot Disk? I am sure I have used those cards with the boot disk before without any modifcations to the setup of RIS

The boot disk is an option - problem is finding Floppy Drives that still work - as is the case with CD/DVD Drives

 

The Little Darlings seem to take great delight in destroying the PCs and yet SMT are reluctant to do anything to stop it.

OK this happened again yesterday with 1 NIC (INTEL's PRO/1000 GT)

Funny thing is that it only happened on One PC out of 10 that I was currently RIS-ing - all of the same hardware and all had the same NICs in them (the other 9 RISd with no errors at all)

 

I have read on the net that DHCP can cause this problem so i'm gonna check this out - also seen reference to a patch from MS for this particular error - but need to contact them to get it
