Abaddon Posted September 3, 2009 Posted September 3, 2009 A laptop here has had a Lenovo factory restore done on it somehow(!), and obviously has very important data on it.. well HAD. This data has not, for whatever reason, been copied back up to the server for a long time now, and would take many tens of hours to rewrite. Can anyone recommend a data recovery company that can retrieve data from a partition wipe, format and OS re-install? /sigh

I've now spent ALL the intervening time calling and e-mailing. It's been nigh on impossible to get an answer. My sales manager "got promoted to the USA", the engineer working on it "got promoted to another dept".. another guy took over and sent a pro-forma for the work saying I had been "really unlucky" and he would get it sorted. Now he's not answering mails either. I wouldn't use them again after this is resolved. 1

sippo Posted December 18, 2009 Posted December 18, 2009 We've used Data Recovery Services - Oxford London Birmingham Leeds UK just recently. You send the drive off, they inspect it (can be FOC) and then quote you. Upto if you feel its worth it, if not they send the drive back. Superb service. I filled the form out, and they rang pretty much straight away. Always in contact via email and phone- keeping me informed. They were also very 'clued up'. Discussing RAID etc, which drive failed etc.

To the other answers, I don't have the drive, they do, so I couldn't try anything on it software wise. I did try initially, but this particular drive is a mechanical failure. It doesn't register on the OS, and just clunks nastily. Last I heard, and it was a LONG time again, they were swapping bits from another drive. My guess is they have lost it, and nobody wants to own up.

kbage Posted March 6, 2011 Posted March 6, 2011 Who are "they" exactly? Not everything is registered in Richard's name, Jamie and Daryl still have most of the major assets in their name. If you feel bad for this guy why don't you show him that he is involved with criminals?
