Hi,

I have just started out as Network Manager at a school that currently doesn't image its computers (believe it or not!).

I want to buy Ghost Solution Suite for Windows Server 2003, but I wanted to check how much it costs per CAL? Do you have to buy CALS for Ghost Solution Suite or just for Ghost? Hope that makes sense.

Also, how much would I expect to pay per CAL? Can anyone recommend a good place to purchase this software?

Thanks in advance.

I believe Ghost is about £6 a client (purchase it from your usual software retailers but make sure you get education price) and it does little more than can be achieved using WDS or FOG - both of which are freely available for you to use (assuming you run Windows servers).

I've not used Ghost for a few years but IMHO FOG beats it hands down.

Cheers for the advice. Maybe I'll consider FOG a bit more - seems to be getting rave reviews on this site.

That's the thing... it's good and it's free. Save the couple of grand that Ghost licenses would cost for something that will have more benefit.

I've just moved over to FOG from using an ACronis solution. It's amazing and totally free. It's worth putting the time in to get your head around it and it looks good on paper that you are saving the school money as well.

We've just left behind the latest version of Ghost Solution Suite, having much more success with FOG.

Strongly recommended!! :)

the latest version of ghost is a backwards step imo
