Russ is in leicester, this is southampton.

I think thery were at the OSS conference and bumped into him. Hence why he is representing EduGeek.

Only clue I can see is it looks like they have just implemented laptops for learning, which would drive any techy mad.

Kristian is on here and might shed some light on it. Yes I was at unconference yesterday which they covered. But by all accounts it is a good school to be at.

Hello All,

I am the Moodle Manager at Hamble Community Sports College and would like to clear things up.

1 The school is not heading towards the monster of BSF...

2 The contracts are not only for one year.

3 There is not one person jumping the ship, we are not sinking we are sailing...

4 The school is in a great area, it is a good school to work in, with a great IT team.

Any other rumours please direct them to [email protected]

Hi,

I'm in London but I'm looking to move to Southampton and am looking for work there.

I am a Network Manager here but my pay is a lot more than the one quoted on the post.

Is the pay generally much lower in Southampton for similar jobs?

Also the jobs do not seem to be on the website.

I would expect pay to be lower than in London as cost of living is slightly cheaper out of London. I would look at jobs in same LA and see what they are offering to get an idea on how good the wage is.

Thanks Russ,

Agreed it is slightly cheaper to live there but the pay difference is significant.

I have been looking for a while now and the difference in the private sector tends to be at most 20% less than London salaries but schools pay around 30 -40% less.

I would love to move to another educational establishment in Hampshire, but I may have to go back to the private sector just to reduce the financial blow.

I'll keep looking though. Any advice as to where to look from fellow Hampshire based colleagues would be appreciated.

Incidentally, where were the jobs advertised, as I cannot see them on the website?

I had a look on the County council's website and they seem to pay more for internal IT Consultants that most Boroughs in London. Looked like a great role for around 57k, no ITIL, 6 Sigma, Agile, or Prince 2 required just a degree. Got all excited until I saw it was internal applications only. So the councils pay over the odds and the schools less than what most 1st line support get. Must be because our jobs are so easy or so thats what the teachers keep telling me.

Guess I'll have to keep looking.

Thanks for your help.
