Hi,

I promised the Deputy Head a 3D film today to show off our new system. I totally forgot about it until today.

We have the 3D system where you have to projectors and using the sunglasses style glasses the viewers use. I can't remember the name......

Has anyone got a 3D film i can borrow for this morning? It can be anything and i am look for something about 30 mins long.

Anyone who has anything for me will have beer delivered ;)

Thanks a million

How about this short film [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EeRxvcj0Lss&feature=related]YouTube - funny 3D film[/ame] there does seem to be a few 3d short films on youtube if that helps

I haven't ever found any as long as that, but there was an Austrian site which had a number of shorter demos of the "side-by-side" format which can be used with the dual projectors using polarised lenses.

3dtv.at - 3D Movies

I have spent many hours hunting for reasonable examples of this sort of film with little success, if you find any then let me know.

One other place might be the ESA since some of the examples we were given with ours were from there.

I think the name of the 3D system they use is "RealD 3D". Saw a box full of 3D glasses at the cinema yesterday, but when I examined them they appeared to be a bit like sunglasses. I think they use polarization...

Edit: or maybe not. A quick scan of the Wikipedia entry says it only requires 1 projector...

Aren't you going to need a film specially designed for your system?

Would be interested in finding any films. We have the system on long term loan but it only comes with the basic films, undersea, train journey, beating heart etc. It has never been out of the box yet as the kids have all seen the films when it was demoed. They did say films were available on the net but yet to find any. Not sure of the system name so can't be too specific.

It's called Stereoscopic I think, have a look on google for it

I think the side by side ones might work, thanks

As said before, these wont work with our setup

It might be worth PMing Freiz (the guy with Nero from Dangermouse as an Avatar), they have a 3d system.

... or me since we work together. We have a side by side setup here using polarization and dual projectors (Link).

There is a severe lack of resources like this out there and Freiz is busy making some 3d programs/experiences to use with the system. It's a slow laborious task but one that's going to be worth it in the end.

We can create our own 3d movies using cameras but again, it's a bit of a faff to get it right.

So that's why he hasn't been posting much. You've got him locked in a cupboard haven't you? ;)

Found a really good film, will post it later.

If anyone has anything they would like to share please do :)

I would appreciate a link FN-GM.

Maybe all of us with 3d projection should have a chat about the direction this could go in. Our SMT are really keen to progress things but the lack of ready made cross curricular software is hindering us.

We have a fair amount of Science stuff, a couple of English things and some History bits and bobs. There's also Google Earth in 3d - that gets used a lot (you need more3d to do that though).

As mentioned we've had to plough loads of money into doing it ourselves - so far Freiz has made 2 or 3 and is on the next one as we speak.

Does Blender render to stereo 3D?
