spc-rocket Posted June 10, 2009 Posted June 10, 2009 Hi all, Is it me or the site for last few days have been slightly slower? i.e. when clicking on new posts etc Ash.
kmount Posted June 10, 2009 Posted June 10, 2009 Yep, slow here too during peak times. A stick is available if you wish to hit the server Shaun.
ZeroHour Posted June 10, 2009 Posted June 10, 2009 Yeh there has been some load issues as of late. I tweaked the server yesterday so we will see how it goes later but I am suspecting a upgrade may be needed soon.
plexer Posted June 10, 2009 Posted June 10, 2009 I thought it was just my connection was doing loads of dupe posts the other day. Ben
ZeroHour Posted June 11, 2009 Posted June 11, 2009 How are things feeling today? It will probably still be slow but is it as slow.
plexer Posted June 11, 2009 Posted June 11, 2009 Seems to be better at the moment no dupes so far for me anyway. Ben
kmount Posted June 11, 2009 Posted June 11, 2009 No dupes but parts of pages aren't loading for me and it's a bit lumpy still. Appreciate the efforts Shaun.
CHR1S Posted June 11, 2009 Posted June 11, 2009 Going quite slow for me at the moment, it must be time to donate again.....want me to look behind the sofa for some spare change?
ZeroHour Posted June 11, 2009 Posted June 11, 2009 Hehe, its cool, I am just debating getting rid of apache and switching to lighttpd but its a bit of pain to get it going since lighttpd does not support .htaccess files so I have to redo all of them.
Popular Post ZeroHour Posted June 16, 2009 Popular Post Posted June 16, 2009 Right I have made some pretty big server changes and installed a few tools to help so I am *hoping* we have less problems tomorrow at peak times. Its so hard to properly simulate load on test setups its hard to say but it should help and all seems to be running fine so far. Post post your feedback both + and - for server performance today as I will be tweaking the server config as and when I get notified of issues. There is still scope to increase certain variables but I have to monitor ram usage before a increase the limits. Cheers 5
kmount Posted June 16, 2009 Posted June 16, 2009 Lovely, cheers Shaun, will see how it goes and let you know.
ZeroHour Posted June 17, 2009 Posted June 17, 2009 More tweaks/code changes have been applied but I dont know if it will help hugely but heres hoping...
alan-d Posted June 17, 2009 Posted June 17, 2009 Slow here at the mo. A ping to EG is losing 3 out of 4 pkts but all other sites seem fine.
ZeroHour Posted June 17, 2009 Posted June 17, 2009 I am trying to trace parts of edugeeks code section by section to see if anything is executing slowly.
leco Posted June 17, 2009 Posted June 17, 2009 ... and there was me thinking it was my machine. Still very very slow, I get to read all the connections on the status bar:)
FN-GM Posted June 17, 2009 Posted June 17, 2009 I can confirm this, last time it was this slow for me was when i was in Aussie.
plexer Posted June 17, 2009 Posted June 17, 2009 Still finding it slow today and lots of dupe posts from me. Ben
witch Posted June 17, 2009 Posted June 17, 2009 Very slow here - worse than ever - getting error messages and all sorts!
linkazoid Posted June 17, 2009 Posted June 17, 2009 Might help ya.... Some Avatars are not loading for me... Michael
linkazoid Posted June 17, 2009 Posted June 17, 2009 Might help ya.... Some Avatars are not loading for me... Michael
ZeroHour Posted June 17, 2009 Posted June 17, 2009 I am tweaking the config as we speak so errors may appear. If they are appearing for a bit then email me (webmater(AT)edugeek.net) I have got apache's footprint per instance down by about 20-25% so I can start tweaking the number of instances. We also may be getting another server to help soon.
ZeroHour Posted June 18, 2009 Posted June 18, 2009 Things are looking much better today server side after the batch of tweaks I did after yesterdays peak. Let me know how you are finding it around the usual peak times.
