Me and a few mates are thinking about going camping, but they seem to have got it into their heads that they will have a great time in Coniston, Lake District but i have a different opinion, i mean, what exactly is there to do up there, we arent exactly big walking fans. Can anyone suggest a decent campsite around the east coast with things to do? and that will let 4 -5 21 to 22 year old lads stay. Thanks Tim

Around £7 a head, and you can make as much noise as you want What exactly do you think you can do on a camp site like? Obviously if theres a lake you can hire a boat, and most places have bike tracks within easy reach but other than that camp sites are for chilling with lots of beer, not for doing stuff. Personally id go west coast, east is pants for camp sites. Have a look at Parkfoot, not too far from Penriff. Pop into Penriff market on the sat morning, stock up on meat, and feast for the rest fo the weekend Or have a lok around Borough, theres a market there and a few nice places but tbh i prefer it further west. The UK Camp Site for Tent and Caravan Campers in the UK I will forewarn you now though that ALOT of campsites will not take all same sex groups. Also alot of campsites have a warden on site who will enforce the rules. Mainly it's to be quiet after 11pm. I have known people to get kicked off of a site when they break the rules too often. But the campsite is a place to relax. Find one in walking distance to the beach and you will have a massive laugh. I love going when I can, it's great fun.

localzuk Posted June 1, 2009 Posted June 1, 2009 I know this is a long way from you, but can I suggest somewhere in West Somerset? We have beaches, campsites and Minehead is full of pubs, places to eat, and Butlins. Lots to do down here!

You'll find lots to do in the area even if you aren't walkers - canoeing, fishing, sailing, mountain biking (if you stay at Coniston you're pretty near Grizedale forest) Plenty of good pubs and places to eat in the area too.

Visit the Lakes Aquarium on the shores of Lake Windermere Various cruises on the lakes Grasmere (William Wordsworth country) Google will find you plenty more Cons: It rains a lot (there is a reason that it's the lake district). Midges... take lots of insect repellant and/or someone who is tastier than you!

But you also have the coast nearby - Walney Island, up the west coast and good old Morecambe Bay. That's the beauty of the area.

elsiegee40 Posted June 1, 2009 Posted June 1, 2009 (edited) Depending on when you can go (if you're not bound to be in school in term-time) you might be able to get a good deal at Center Parcs Whinfell Forest (Cumbria) ... although I'm not sure if they'll accept a group of 5 blokes.
