Junior ICT Technician - Commonweal School, Swindon

We're looking for a Junior ICT Technician at The Commonweal School, Swindon.

 

It's going to be a challenging year, what with a massive refurbishment going on and with my current technician cutting back his hours I need to get someone in to help out.

 

This will be a great opportunity for someone looking for their first IT job.

 

Details are here: The Commonweal School , but we're generally after some one to the general duties (help with laptop trollies, setup PC's, general support, help current technician and help me over holiday breaks in getting the school ready for the next term).

 

Not after a smart arse whiz kid who knows everything, as I'm willing to train them up, but must have a hunger for IT with the right attitude. Could even entertain the option of day release at College at a later date to get their degree, etc.

danIT's got a point though. If it's going to be such a heavy year and you're short-staffed anyway, there are advantages to having someone to who you can just say "go take that printer apart, and order whatever bits are neccessary" and know it'll be ok.

I am 23 currently working in a customer service role with 5 years experience both face to face and over the telephone.

 

Although I have no commerical ICT experience I have 8+ years personal experience (and more importantly, a keen interest) with computers at a level which I am confident would meet your requirements, and I am currently studying for my A+ certification whilst looking for my first role (I was given a role as a Junior IT Technician recently at a local repairs and support company. They waited until the day before my last day at my job to tell me their business had dried up massively and could no longer afford to hire me)

 

Although I do not have GCSE's etc in Technology I do have 8 GCSE's grade C/B including electronics and a national diploma in Music Technology. I also have an ECDL from my personal studies and 3 CIW certifications.

Hi,

 

Hours are 8:15 to 16:15 Mon - Thurs, finishing at 15:45 on Fridays with 1/2 hour lunch break.

 

This job is full time, ie. all year round not term time only. (I think it's something like 23 days holiday a year plus the Christmas break). Not sure atm.

 

We've had heck of lot of interest, last count on the recruitment mailbox was over 140 requests for the application pack. I think there are over 40 applications so far, but I haven't started the sift yet as we're waiting for the closing date.

 

Should get a good pool of people to choose from.
