jmair Posted May 27, 2009 Posted May 27, 2009 I just had a student print to a staff members shared printer. I thought i could easily see who printed it, but when I log in I see nothing under System Event Logs . Any ideas?
Oops_my_bad Posted May 27, 2009 Posted May 27, 2009 Normally it will be logged as "print" category under system on the computer that the printer is connected to. In future you could install something like PaperCut - Print Logger - a free print job logger for Windows. to keep track on this sort of thing!
DrPerceptron Posted May 27, 2009 Posted May 27, 2009 Or a more 'free' solution would be to check the "Keep list of Printed Documents" box, it keeps a record of all the print jobs then... 1
Michael Posted May 27, 2009 Posted May 27, 2009 As already suggested, check the event logs on the machine where the printer is installed. Not the machine where the print job was sent from.
jmair Posted May 28, 2009 Author Posted May 28, 2009 As already suggested, check the event logs on the machine where the printer is installed. Not the machine where the print job was sent from. unfortunatly there was no event showing who printed to her printer, and i have no idea why. Regardless I'll try the check the "Keep list of Printed Documents" box and take it from there. Thanks guys.

This tool is very usefull, I have it installed on my schools as part of monitoring who prints what and when.
