I only know of Active Directory to manage Microsoft users. Do they have a solution to manage student's devices and accounts like Google has? With Google I can quickly push testing Kiosk apps to their devices, lock down devices, add Apps etc. My new super is asking about moving our chrome devices to Windows devices and I need to be updated. You guys are the first place I thought I would ask. Thank you!

brilliant. worked like a charm, thank you! -
I'm in need of making an admin account that can make changes only to staff computers. Is there a way to do this?

I know we have protections for filtering web traffic, but do we have anything in the USA that helps/requires schools to address protecting their student's digital identity or footprint? Parents seem pretty worked up about boys looking up boobs, but not their digital citizenship or what can be tracked etc on minors. I wasn't sure who else I could ask this question or what other forum would be a better place to ask.

I've been tasked with putting a strobe or action light in our band room to fire off when the passing bells go off. We have copper wire that goes to each classrooms speaker for passing bells. I believe there is a device I can put over the speaker wire that will flash or blink when it senses a signal in the wire. Any of you know what that device is called or can suggest a solution?

guess It's just an .exe file.

I installed an app on a teacher laptop. The app is requiring Admin credentials each time it's opened. This means they can't run it. Is there a way around this without making them Admin on the local machine?

Google Extention to filter One student?
jmair replied to jmair's topic in Internet Related/Filtering/Firewall
Currently Securly at the moment. We do have plans on moving to Bloksi at the request of a few staff next year. Everything I've seen has been for a full school or classroom, not one kid yet. I'm thankful for the suggestions and will take a look. Thanks everyone! -
We have one student that is needing to have their websites limited during certain hours and then open when the student earns it. The teacher will manually allow/disallow their access. Can anyone suggest an App that could meet their needs?

Sorry about that. It's a Palo Alto firewall. -
Our Public WiFi is unencrypted, then sent to an external offsite DNS web filter. Perhaps this is causing 'unusual traffic' ?

We are rural middle America. Our ISP is a local county service.

We have student chromebook carts for out little kids. They each have their own user/pass to sign into the shared devices. This happens with all students that share a device. Google support didn't have an answer how to solve this, but did say that it was a recent security feature added a few months ago. We are seeing it because multiple students are using the same device. Have you experienced this, and what did you do to solve it?

How to Log User off Chromebook from admin.google.com console?
jmair posted a topic in Cloud Services
Either a change has happened on Google's side or I clicked something I shouldn't have at some point. But after a student logs in and their device needs repair or is handed to another student, we can not log that student out from the client. If this is not the correct location for this question please advise. -
[windows software] My Microsoft Licensing Portal is Gone. It's all gone.

Looks like in April Microsoft sent me a confirmation email that my sign on is now [email protected] I would rather dress up as Princess Leia at a Star Trek convention shouting Lord of the Rings quotes than have to deal with that again -

We have never used Office 365 here, so I don't think so. But when I do sign it I get a message that I do not have permission. -

Thank you all for the reply's. I am the only Admin for the schools here. Same account that manages the Microsoft keys. When I sign into the ol-https://www.microsoft.com/Licensing/servicecenter/Default.aspx page I get prompted to When I try and sign up, I get this. When I sign into the admin.microsoft.com account it says I don't have permission. -
I don't know what's going on. But the old reliable https://www.microsoft.com/Licensing/servicecenter/default.aspx is no more right? So where do I get my stuff? All my keys should be tucked away somewhere. When I try to log into the https://admin.microsoft.com page, it says "Your account ([email protected]) doesn’t have permission to view or manage this page in the Microsoft 365 admin center. Hoping one of you can point me in the right direction. (Yes, I have been under a rock. Covid forced us to ChromeBooks and I haven't needed a windows key in a while)

Thanks for the support guys. You all rock!

I need a way of monitoring bandwidth use on my network. we are small enough to have one MDF and two IDF rooms on one subnet. We are one network and really one school under the same roof. But I need a way to track bandwidth and speed internally. I'm just not sure what software I should be looking at to get this kind of info over a week or months time. Any suggestions? *Our network was build about 12 years ago and we are planning on upgrading our security cameras that will add a considerable amount of traffic and we need to make sure our current network can support the additional traffic.

All good now ( I hope ). Will know more when folks trickle in. Thank you for the support btw, few places to get it.
