NOD32 Versus Sophos

And was just wanting some input from people who have or use NOD32 on there networks and wanted to know what you think of NOD32 versus sophos ?

LOL my pro is the small footprint and that i have never had a virus when using it , cant comment on sophos as have stayed clear after hearing bad reports.

We use Sophos and have done for years and i have no complaints about it.

 

Pros,

 

Intuitive Interface

Mac and PC Management

Install and Forget

Does remove viruses if configured to do so

Good endpoint security tools

 

Cons,

 

Heavy on the processor when updating so slower PC's may suffer.

 

 

 

 

Never used NOD32, but always reminds me of the Brotherhood of NOD from the command and conquer games. LOL

Pros

Really easy console to use

Easy to deploy and maintain clients

 

Cons

Big CPU use on older clients

Bad at getting rid of viruses, reboot, reboot and reboot again

 

A combination of the two would be good, the GUI and ease of Sophos and the ability of NOD... oh and Sophos's customer service because NOD's is useless. IMHO

 

I've said it a few times on here but I am regretting changing from Sophos.. its been a nightmare for me

Can't comment on V4 other than to say it's been running on my admin workstation here with no problems since I first got the email about it being available. All other workstations on my network are still 3.x. I personally find the console really great to use - I can't think of anything missing from it that I need, or anything I need to do with it that I can't. When we got our license email through I downloaded and printed the manual, read through it and had it up, running, packaged and deployed to our IT rooms in a couple of hours. Not sure where the learning curve comes in?

The Sophos dashboard is quite an attractive thing isn't it? I must say I do like it and the Nod consol can be quite daunting when you first use it. Now that I'm used to it though I like the segmented data and the range of facilities that I can use.

 

Pros for nod:

 

Small footprint

Easy client install (push)

Fast scanning

 

Cons:

 

I'm not so sure about it catching all viruses yet...

Support is terrible

Documentation is incomprehensible.

We switched from sophos to nod32 a few years ago. Back then sophos degraded performance on the workstation in a terrible way. Now we are using nod32 for 4 years.. PRO's would be performance, easy installation and roll-out. con's : terrible support (at least in netherlands they only have email support ).. overall we are happy with it
