Windows 7 issue.

I'm also x-posting this onto the W7 forum.

 

I upgraded my laptop to W7 RC1. Absolutely everything is fine, all settings, programs, documents, etc were migrated over by the superb W7 upgrade tool. No issues at all.

 

SIMS loaded and ran fine, browsing the focus pages is AOK. On clicking the System link however the following error presented:

 

“The procedure entry point I_NetNameCanonicalize could not be located in the dynamic link library NETAPI32.dll”

 

I thought this might simply be a migration issue so I completely uninstalled SIMS and re-installed but the same error presented.

 

Has anyone else come across this. Is there a fix?

Netapi32.dll is part of the .Net library. Check you have all the .Net runtimes installed (1.1, 2, 3, 3.5 and 3.5SP2) and then blame SIMS.

sims on windows 7, i wouldn't even dare, sims still doesn't work correctly with xp sp3, or office 2007, my admin system is still on xpsp2, not sure about IE8 ?

Nah! Had no problem with it running on Vista, even on SP2 beta.

 

It's going to have to run on W7 at some point and this is a test run, as is W7 itself on this machine.

Are you using 64bit or 32bit Windows 7? Also, I doubt Capita support will do anything, as it isn't supported!

They're not truly backwards-compatible, and I don't know which version SIMS requires.

Just heard back from Capita.

 

They will be supporting W7 within 6 months from official release. So, not too bad really, we can certainly live with that.

We've run IE8 on a couple of machines since release and no issues at all detected with SIMS.

I tried, but I couldn't get it to install, I suspect I need the administrator password, but I'm not sure what it is...

I had no free time to mess around with it, if I need to use the system console, which is rarely, I'll just borrow someone elses PC It's not needed often and the main part of SIMS runs perfectly fine under W7.

I'm beginning to think this XP mode is going to be a huge backwards step. If it costs a company far less money to tweak their software so it works in XP Mode rather than make it fully compatible with Windows 7, then that it was they will do.

We have no problems here with XP SP3 running Office 2007 and IE8. What do you mean by 'still doesn't work correctly'?

i was told with sp3, and off 2007, spreadsheets and the like would not open up correctly from within sims. also i was told the same occurs with off 2003, and sp3. 'Our' tech support has reported issues, and i only asked them a couple of weeks ago, and the reply was 'not yet'.

So i'll wait
