cookie_monster Posted May 5, 2009 Posted May 5, 2009 Anyone using the QCA Testing software that uses PostgreSQL on Server 2008?
sahmeepee Posted May 5, 2009 Posted May 5, 2009 I'm hoping they've forgotten about it here so I can get all that junk off the server at some point. Sorry I can't help with your query though.. ours is sat on a WS2003 machine.
Tallwood_6 Posted May 5, 2009 Posted May 5, 2009 Its produced by RM so they probably dont even know server 2008 exists.
cookie_monster Posted May 5, 2009 Author Posted May 5, 2009 Yep it's currently hanging around on one of our 2003 servers but it's still in use
Sylv3r Posted May 6, 2009 Posted May 6, 2009 did use it a couple of years ago but not since it was no longer mandatory and to be used for levelling purposes only.
Steven_Cleaver Posted May 6, 2009 Posted May 6, 2009 Yep still using it here they did some science tests using the DPS software were a lot better to be honest than the old ICT tests more drag & drop & multiple choice much easier to set up less issues. Its sitting on one of our 2003 Servers. Apparently the results were better than some of the same tests done on paper so they are looking at expanding these.
russdev Posted May 6, 2009 Posted May 6, 2009 We still use it here and to be honest works well no problems. Also very good at testing levels etc. Don't get me started through as might have to rant as worst thing did was get rid of the tests but that is my view.. Russ
DAckroyd Posted May 7, 2009 Posted May 7, 2009 I'm trying to set this up atm... I have a clean 2K8 server and have copied the cd's data to the C: drive but it doesn't seem to run - should it? I need this up and running by the end of next week because of ELBS exams taking place using it
DAckroyd Posted May 8, 2009 Posted May 8, 2009 Is the setup failing or the server software? I try to run the setup file in the APS folder and it won't run the setup
DAckroyd Posted May 8, 2009 Posted May 8, 2009 I now have this installing - I needed to install all updates to server 2008 and also be logged onto the actual computer (not through mstsc). How sucsessfull I will be is unknown - it's a horrible installer!
DAckroyd Posted May 8, 2009 Posted May 8, 2009 Should I have IIS or similar installed on the server for this or does something get installed?
russdev Posted May 8, 2009 Posted May 8, 2009 Shouldn't need iis as it has its own client (well qca one does so assume the other do as well.) Russ
DAckroyd Posted May 8, 2009 Posted May 8, 2009 I can see tomcat running but I can't load the page in ie
sahmeepee Posted May 8, 2009 Posted May 8, 2009 I forget if it's port 443 only... Can you get anything out of it with telnet/wget/curl? Is the server listening on 80/443 when you run netstat. Do you have IIS running on the server already?
russdev Posted May 8, 2009 Posted May 8, 2009 Running iis should be ok unless you have something running on the same port. Is both postgres and tomcat running? Russ
DAckroyd Posted May 11, 2009 Posted May 11, 2009 (edited) It's a clean server with 2K8 installed and latest updates only then QCA thing on top UPDATE: I have carried out the same process on a 2K3 server and having the same problem - I am starting to dislike this thing! Edited May 11, 2009 by DAckroyd
DAckroyd Posted May 11, 2009 Posted May 11, 2009 Now working off of the 2K3 box and somewhere further on 2K8 but going to consontrate on 2K3 - thanks for helping
DAckroyd Posted May 11, 2009 Posted May 11, 2009 As a confirmation from RM/QCA tech Support - Server 2008 is UNSUPPORTED! 1
Iain.Faulkner Posted May 14, 2009 Posted May 14, 2009 As a confirmation from RM/QCA tech Support - Server 2008 is UNSUPPORTED! I don't suppose you still have the link to this?
cookie_monster Posted May 14, 2009 Author Posted May 14, 2009 Any timescale for server 2008 to be supported? It's not exactly brand new now is it.
DAckroyd Posted May 14, 2009 Posted May 14, 2009 I would guess at when 2011 comes out... the guy on the phone didn't sound overly like he'd heard of server 2008 I don't think
Iain.Faulkner Posted May 18, 2009 Posted May 18, 2009 Hi Cookie Monster, I spoke to RM on friday about this, and I was told that because the QCA testing is no longer compulsory, RM are no longer doing development work on it and as a result it will never be compatible. Great news for me, as it means we can get rid of it in the summer :-)
