gshaw Posted April 30, 2009 Posted April 30, 2009 Just building the new image for summer at the mo and downloading the updated Flash etc players... just wondering if anyone had any issues with v10? I'm sure I read a thread having problems with GOLA seeing it as version 1 but not sure if it's been fixed now?
FN-GM Posted April 30, 2009 Posted April 30, 2009 We haven't had any issues. We have deployed it on 900 machines at my current place. I also look after another school part time they have 650 machines with flash 10 on with no problems. I deployed it through group policy.
cookie_monster Posted May 1, 2009 Posted May 1, 2009 @ FN-GM - I seem to remember a bit of fiddling with the msi in V9 to stop auto updates and to register the default browser and so on. Did you have to do any of this for V10 before deploying with group policy? Sorry if i've hijacked your thred there gshaw

Sorry if i've hijacked your thred there gshaw with V10 you also need to deploy your customised settings.sol file to the default profile, if you want to disable auto updates etc for all users. This is fine for anyone who hasnt logged on or if you clean up profiles, but would need adding in manually to say profiles on staff laptops Vista: %SystemDrive%\users\default\AppData\Roaming\Macromedia\Flash Player\macromedia.com\support\flashplayer\sys\settings.sol XP: %SystemDrive%\Documents and Settings\Default User\application data\Macromedia\Flash Player\macromedia.com\support\flashplayer\sys\settings.sol Edited May 1, 2009 by Oops_my_bad 1
cookie_monster Posted May 1, 2009 Posted May 1, 2009 I don't think i've used a setting.sol file before. Do you configure flash how you want it then grab the file and put it in your default profile? No other modifications to the msi file?

No other modifications to the msi file? Thats pretty much it - goto the flash settings page on adobe.com, configure the flash settings as you like there, close and then grab the .sol file. You can copy it over using a computer startup script or files preference item. No MSI modification, hopefully they will make a tool like they did for Reader9 which will create you a custom transform. Won't hold my breathe though
sparkeh Posted May 1, 2009 Posted May 1, 2009 To disable updates I created mms.cfg with "AutoUpdateDisable=1" in it and placed it in C:\WINDOWS\System32\Macromed\Flash\mms.cfg
Simcfc73 Posted May 1, 2009 Posted May 1, 2009 I have a problem that I haven't looked into yet. I have some Framework Maths CD's by the Oxford University Press which doesn't like the new security settings and it asks me to put the path in of the flash program thats trying to run it. Its just a default install so I haven't done anything yet about it but its a per user setting so I need to find a way to change it globally. Kinda funny because when you go to allow the program it opens a Adobe webpage whenre you type it into their box.
cookie_monster Posted May 1, 2009 Posted May 1, 2009 @ sparkeh - yes that's how i used to do it i think the default profile way might be better as i can put it on the server and don't need to distribute a file.

cookie_monster Posted May 1, 2009 Posted May 1, 2009 The mms.cfg file is what i used to configure V9.

gshaw Posted May 5, 2009 Author Posted May 5, 2009 The MMS.cfg is the way I was gonna do it, says it on an Adobe KB article so good enough for me
