what to do with fault motherboards

I have quite a few dead motherboards am i allowed to chuck these in the bin or do they have to be recycled?

They can't go into the normal bins as they are hazardous waste.

 

They need to be processed under the weee directive so you'll probably have to pay an electronic recycler to do that for you.

Going on advice I was given when I worked in industry, nothing with a printed circuit board should go to landfill. It also has to be treated as hazardous waste.

Take it to PC world dressed as a civy! they recycle the stuff i thinks.

We checked with the company that provided the skip we had here over Easter, we are allowed to throw electrical items in to it as they sort the contents at their warehouse, recylcing and disposing of various items as appropriate.

two suggestions here:

 

1 chuck them in the foundations of the new sports hall

2 (what actually happens at the mo!) A kid's making a "futuristic city" for his GCSE art project so they get hot glued together and used to make funky looking skyscrapers:D Seriously!

I once found the internals of a memory card reader glued to some one picture on the wall and they wondered why it would no longer work and the card just fell inside the reader :-)

Replace the blown caps and re-use them

 

Seriously, are they all completely dead?
