button_ripple Posted March 27, 2009 Posted March 27, 2009 Just installed the March Release onto the SIMS server and it went fine. Now on all FMS workstations I get the following message (they claim to have upgraded ok): There is a module/database incompatibility. Current database version: 6.92.117 Module Requires: 6.93.150 This module version: 6.116.150 Database Requires: 6.100.117 HELP!!!!!
synaesthesia Posted March 27, 2009 Posted March 27, 2009 Did you run SIMS and let it update on the workstations before running FMS on the stations? That's pretty much the error to expect when you dont (guess who forgot yesterday!)

kmount Posted March 27, 2009 Posted March 27, 2009 Problem Sorted Thanks for the help! What was the solution incase anyone runs into this issue?
John_Howarth Posted March 27, 2009 Posted March 27, 2009 Looking at the error message, the database the users were trying to connect to hadn't been upgraded. The client upgrades resulted in a mismatch. Some of the schools that I support have more than one FMS database. SOLUS will upgrade one, but a second will need to be upgraded using the FMS version of DBUpgrade.exe.
Gatt Posted March 27, 2009 Posted March 27, 2009 We got this a while back and found that FMS was being installed to C:\program files\Sims\finance Whereas on stations where it was working FMS was installed to C:\Program Files\SIMS\FMSSQL\ Renaming the directory and related Shortcuts appeared to solve the issue
dwhyte85 Posted March 27, 2009 Posted March 27, 2009 Following the chap i'm shadowing at the moment, he simply run from the fms folder the setup/installer file - can't remember the filename but, we had that exact same error.
button_ripple Posted March 30, 2009 Author Posted March 30, 2009 I used the ESS upgrade tool on capitaess website, ran it on all of our databases. Seems to have solved the problem. Bit annoying that SOLUS won't upgrade all databases on the server .

Oops_my_bad Posted March 30, 2009 Posted March 30, 2009 sorry for sidelining, but what do schools use multiple FMS databases for? All the FMS databases I've dealt with they have only had one database (or at least, I hope they had)
matt40k Posted March 30, 2009 Posted March 30, 2009 Central hosting will have more then one (same with SIMS). FMS allows you to have more then one. Few schools in Suffolk do it. Generally one for the school, one for the school fund (ie if they rent out the hall privately).
button_ripple Posted March 30, 2009 Author Posted March 30, 2009 We have 2 for junior school, 2 for infants and 1 primary (we merged 2 years ago). The reason we have 2 for each school is because one is for 2002 and the other 2003 (not sure why!!)
FragglePete Posted March 30, 2009 Posted March 30, 2009 Grrr..... Did my update this evening, and the SIMS went ok. All runs fine (so it would appear) Then went to do the FMS, and the installer refuses to do the upgrade!!! Error message reads. 'Failed to upgrade using FMSSQLApplicationSetup 1.566.4.0 to 570.6.0 Upgrade EXE' Phoned the help desk, but for some reason they close early on a Monday !!!! So, late home, cold tea and now an early start to get in and deal with the fall out! I've got too much on to worry about stupid software that won't upgrade correctly! Pete

Pete You mean FMSSQLApplicationSetup 1.566.4.0 to 1.570.6.0 Upgrade EXE Just sounds like the file didn't download correctly, so it's failed the sig check so it's crashed out, rather then attempting to apply it, just re-run SOLUS and remove existing package and try again. No biggy. 1
synaesthesia Posted March 30, 2009 Posted March 30, 2009 It didn't download a couple of files for me this afternoon at an upgrade. Redownloaded and all was fine, suspected just a connection hickup/traffic at the solus server end.
matt40k Posted March 31, 2009 Posted March 31, 2009 suspected just a connection hickup/traffic at the solus server end. Wash you mouth out with soap!!! :D

No biggy. Got on to Capita, indeed the file downloaded by Solus was showing 0 bytes, so they re-downloaded the file and did a manual dbupdade. All works now. Not too many problems with the March release so far, some liking the new interface, but manily complaints from people who use more than just Attendance as all the shortcuts are gone and they have to make up their own panels. Pete
matt40k Posted March 31, 2009 Posted March 31, 2009 all the shortcuts are gone and they have to make up their own panels. Not gone, just moved. Anything custom should be in the custom panel, which you might need to bring out of hidding, double green arrow. Everything Capita is at the bottom of one of the menus (ie focus\tools etc) Still having to wait till June(I think?) for it to be centrally managed
Steve_T Posted April 2, 2009 Posted April 2, 2009 The error is a little cryptic but it kind of point you in the right direction. Mismatch is the problem, during the upgrade the either the database or the application have not upgrade correctly. Basically, when you open FMS if your change password box appears the application is fine and therefore the database needs upgrade. If the application is still out of data run FMSapplication setup. or... To upgrade the database simply run dbupgrade for the FMS database and point the FMS temp folder (if not empty already) or the FMS folder and run. One it executes the files you will be fine. This is common with FMS second databases as Solus on handles one at a time. On a side note digital signature errors are nearly always download problem, re download and try again if not, http://dl.capitasolus.co.uk/cdimage/SIMS2009MarchMain.zip Mount and run
matt40k Posted April 3, 2009 Posted April 3, 2009 http://dl.capitasolus.co.uk/cdimage/SIMS2009MarchMain.zip Mount and run Please make sure you run SOLUS afterwards otherwise you'll LEA (or whoever) system won't be up-to-date with what version you are running and it will be flagged up as a failed install. 1
