I've just created a change request in SIMS, and would appreciate you guys' votes if you agree it would be useful. It reads:

I propose a change to SIMS.net which would allow users - possibly only administrators - to be able to delete reports created by another user. At present, users can only delete their own reports, so deleting incorrect or outdated reports created by people who have left the school is time-consuming and tedious, as you have to first create a user of the same name as the one who made the report, then log in as them, delete the report and finally go back and delete the user again.

You can record your (dis)agreement with this on Capita Support Online, it is CR#0903-492207

Me too - it's long overdue and I've mentioned it to them on several occasions. I thought there was a change request a while back about this. They must have deleted it because they didn't like it. :) Edited by Heebeejeebee

And it was raised in the Software Consultation Group in Manchester yesterday with the Reporting Product Manager.

The new Reporting Engine looks interesting but it will be a good while yet before it is developed and available for release.

Must be missing something, or it's fixed in March, I've got the March Beta, I can delete other users reports. I'll just check it's not me being silly.

EDIT:

I'm being silly.

This is supposed to be a new 'feature' that will be added to the new System Manager. However I understand the new SM won't be out till next year!

Nevertheless I have voted!

I'm voting for it too - don't hold your breath though - this same CR came through several times when I worked for Capita :(

I thought so - and I voted for it then. It just goes to show that it's not what the customer wants, its what Capita want to give us that we're paying for.

Do you happen to remember why Capita are repeatedly refusing to include it? It surely isn't that big a deal to change it...

Could be the whole security thing, perhaps they would need to add another security group to allow users to delete them.

I think it jusk kept getting pushed back in the queue by more urgent stuff... I could be wrong!
