I know iTunes is bloated (and that's an understatement), but for media, I like things I can just fire up and leave going... WMP11 seems to have taken on a very iTunes-esque look, with the playlist/folder arrangement on the left... clearly they've seen that Apple's got the winning formula and are following it.
Norphy Posted June 9, 2006 Posted June 9, 2006 I'm an iTunes fan too (Winamp has never been the same since ver 3 and I've never particularly liked Foobar) but I have given WMP11 a try. I have to say, I quite like it. I've not liked previous versions of WMP because they've been cumbersome but Microsoft have done well on this one imo.
webman Posted June 9, 2006 Posted June 9, 2006 I personally can't stand the way WiMP and iTunes behave and look and how bloated they are. Winamp 3 was a huge mistake by Nullsoft, unlike version 2. But the latest version is a vast improvement

Guest Posted June 9, 2006 Posted June 9, 2006 Use iTunes on my Mac Mini via Front Row and plain old iTunes on my Laptop. Makes it easier for sharing the library between the two.

ChrisC Posted June 12, 2006 Posted June 12, 2006 ipods are the devil!, but that's just my personal opinion. Anyway, i use wmp to rip my cd's to mp3, that way they go nicely on my not ipod mp3 player. If i'm listening to my music, I use winamp, the fact that i can fit all my features into a bar along the top of my screen thinner than the start bar is a plus! Chris

I have a 6 year old 64MB Rio500 (ahh, memories.. good old days ) and I don't use it any longer. I really have no need to listen to music on the go. If I wanted to though, I could load a few albums onto my 1GB SD card and play them on my iPAQ.

I generally use mine for listening to podcasts, I have my favorite music on it aswell for the car (given it's 40Gb capacity). The rest is taken up by mame + roms, Doom + random stuff for work (it's usable as a generic USB mass storage device like a thumb drive) and portable firefox.

ChrisC Posted June 12, 2006 Posted June 12, 2006 I use a creative zen touch, 20Gb, got it for a good price @ the time. since the last firmware update, it now is totally Plug & Play, before you had to install their custom browsing software and drivers onto the machine you want to use it with, but not any more!!! And what's also cool, is that it's not partitioned etc, so you can just stick data in the data folder, and music in the music, without having to worry about setting up partitions for each! Havent used it since the summer tho, as I've lost my psu for recharging it hehe and it didnt have enough power left for me to USB charge it :( Also got a Muvo 256MB Slim for my g/f - but i've been using it mainly til I front the cash for the PSU for mine. She wants me to get her a iPod - but cant explain why lol [dont you just hate hype?]. I try explaining that its just the same as her one [depending on the model of course] and that ultimately, they are both music players but no joy Head >>> wall *sighs* Nath.
