How do you get rid of your waste toners?

 

We used to be paid for ours but now we are looking at paying approx £100 \ 60 litre box which we recon we will fill 2 of every month.

 

Ideally we'd like to avoid them going straight to landfill.

I'd be interested in knowing this too.

Historically we've used Lasertech's recycling program, but have just been refused due to not ordering with them "recently enough"!!

 

I don't rate their refil / compat toners - no end of problems with them despite all the assurances under the sun! I'm contemplating ordering a batch of originals from them just so they come and get my waste (as I've been having a lot of trouble finind a suitable, and free, alternative!)

I've moved away from lasertech due to high prices and instead recycle with empty cartridge (linky).

 

They do run on a cycle though and for us (north west) is every 3 months, which isn't ideal, but they take nearly anything (including the konica minolta ones which noone else would take). Lasertech give more money back, but you may more to begin with on their OEMs, and we have other suppliers who can do compats much cheaper.

 

We bin the waste toner bottles though - don't think these can be collected, although never asked.

We send ours back, they come and collect for nothing and give us money in return. Prices have dropped recently though.

We use Recycool - Recycling mobile phones and printer cartridges with schools for cash here, if you search the forums they appear to be a lot of schools using them.

Couple of my schools trade their old toners for paper with a local cartridge/toner company.

We use a local company who come and take them away. We also purchase our toners from them.

Waste toners and cartridges are stored up and periodically sent off to a charity. We also encourage staff and students to bring their cartridges from home.

 

Konica Minolta ones are returned to manufacturer, who extend our warranty by a month for every toner - PowerPack I believe it is called. They also take the waste toner bottles, but we don't get any money for those (beats landfill, though).
