Can't find profile message when logon- mandatory profile

We are using mandatory profiles for pupil accounts across the school.

This has been working fine for well over a year without and major problems.

I have a VB script running at logoff that removes the local profile left behind.

It seems that in one ICT suite, it decides not to work properly.

Here's what the event log on the local machine has to say:

\\cayars002\MandatoryProfiles$\students\Local Settings\Temp\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5\ADGYNX91\086CAB1NX33CA90TC3LCASFCGTKCAXXUI83CAUPYNVWCAD74D5ACACARUWICAUOKDRSCAHJQ68BCAEJWE8YCACR3NSDCAF2QJX8CARZTB28CA24TGBMCAJZG70QCAQUIBOLCA1V7C3ACAGH9IUFCAIT3RWSCAKI7WG9CAIBXAMI.jpg to location C:\Documents and Settings\93ew11\Local Settings\Temp\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5\ADGYNX91\086CAB1NX33CA90TC3LCASFCGTKCAXXUI83CAUPYNVWCAD74D5ACACARUWICAUOKDRSCAHJQ68BCAEJWE8YCACR3NSDCAF2QJX8CARZTB28CA24TGBMCAJZG70QCAQUIBOLCA1V7C3ACAGH9IUFCAIT3RWSCAKI7WG9CAIBXAMI.jpg.

DETAIL - The filename or extension is too long.

If I go to \\cayars002\Mandatoryprofiles$\students there is no folder called Local Settings (with view hidden folders selected)

I'm a bit lost.... any suggestions??

Users can usually log on once I manually remove local profiles on the machine (if the script has failed)

cheers,

Thats the bit I can't understand... It doesn't exist!

Where does the Local Settings folder come from?

I'm going to logon to the Mandatory Profile user account and remove any temp internet files and browsing history etc in IE.

It could be a hidden system file, like c:\system volume information

when you type the whole thing into address bar does it go there? Edit: (\\cayars002\MandatoryProfiles$\students\Local Settings\Temp\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5)

Tried checking the folder threw command prompt? explorer can totally freak out if the file path is too long, to the point it can't see it but you can normally see it threw cmd if I remember right. From what i remember right one way to delete the file also was to map a drive to the folder... So tools -> map network drive -->put the folder as \\cayars002\MandatoryProfiles$\students\Local Settings\Temp\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5\ADGYNX91\

sorry to revive this old topic but incase it wasnt solved I had a simular issue today and was also puzzled that this file didnt exist on the server.

Log on locally/admin and remove the users local profile, problem solved for us hope others do too.
