jamesb Posted February 26, 2009 Posted February 26, 2009 I'm looking for recommendations for games for either the XBox 360 or the Wii to treat myself to on payday (tomorrow). Best suggestions would be games which are novel in some way, my recent favourites have been Assassin's Creed, Mirror's Edge and Viva Pinata (even though it did make me wonder whether someone had slipped something into my drink) on the XBox 360. Anything out of the ordinary (i.e., not a racing game or first person shooter) is good. Help me out people, I'm running out of evening entertainment other than actually having to speak to people.
PeterW Posted February 26, 2009 Posted February 26, 2009 My better half is almost always on Fable II at the moment that might be a good start.
jamesb Posted February 26, 2009 Author Posted February 26, 2009 My better half is almost always on Fable II at the moment that might be a good start. Thanks for the suggestion, and it was a good game the first few times I played it through. I've also had Fallout 3 recently, which was also quite good, though I did find it getting somewhat tedious at points.
jamesb Posted February 26, 2009 Author Posted February 26, 2009 If I can get off COD5 on the PC, then I like to have a go on the wii with friends. I like the wii, but it is different to an Xbox and the novelty for some wears off quite quick. I got mine with a wiikey2, and its still got the interest the day I got it. At the moment my Wii is pretty much limited to running Wii Fit and Bomberman. I do have Zelda on it, but having completed that twice I'm now playing it as a pick-up/put-down game on occassion.

jamesb Posted February 26, 2009 Author Posted February 26, 2009 LOL oh ok. Simpsons? Should've mentioned that I have that one as well. Again, very good game. Or rather incredibly unoriginal but fun platformer that rips it out of the entire computer gaming world. I still love the Gauntlet: Legends style sub-level, and the MMORPG level in general.
PeterW Posted February 26, 2009 Posted February 26, 2009 Should've mentioned that I have that one as well. Ok ok I will get one in a moment, how about the best football game ever?
dhicks Posted February 26, 2009 Posted February 26, 2009 I'm looking for recommendations for games Just to hijak the thread slighty: anyone got any recommendations for Wii games suitible for our pupils (the sixth form in particular as I've just set up a Wii over there)? We're an all-girls school, so the typical gory shoot-fest might not be the best idea. Something vaugly educational might be nice... -- David Hicks

Bomberman's good of course, just for fun, and not gory. Big Brain Academy maybe?

Trojan Posted February 26, 2009 Posted February 26, 2009 LEGO Batman, LEGO Starwars and LEGO Indiana Jones on the 360 are ace
ZeroHour Posted February 26, 2009 Posted February 26, 2009 So many games on the 360 its hard to narrow it down but I would buy a 360 + guitar hero. People say singster is good too and then there is the huge amount of £20 games you could buy also that give good value.
apoth0r Posted February 26, 2009 Posted February 26, 2009 Guitar Hero / Rockband - forget the costs its awesome!!!!! Theres a downloadable game on the Wii that you might like (a friend of mine works for Frontier games who helped design it) it's called LostWinds. It was voted the best "IP" at a UK games award ceremony in brighton. It's a brilliant game and really is a little different. LostWinds Nominated For Develop Awards - WiiWare World
